Yanggao Great Wall

In Yanggao County, the Great Wall is always south by west, passing through zhenmenpu from the 19th pier. After passing Mt. Hutou and Mt. papilla to shoukoupu, we continue to pass zhenhongbao westward, pass Changcheng township to zhenbianbao, and then go westward to Yanggao to enter the jurisdiction of Datong City.

Yanggao Great Wall

Yanggao County, the ancient Great Wall, all along the hillside or flat construction, brick buildings and loess rammed piers and abutments are more dense, a total of 119. The city walls of several miles on both sides of the East and West, together with the tall and solid enemy towers, have no traces of piers and abutments. It is understood that most of them were destroyed by the peasants digging the Great Wall in the 1970s. Today, digging the Great Wall for soil is still happening. The new pump house wall in Xietun village, sunrenbao township was plastered with the great wall soil. According to the local villagers, the original brick building on the west slope of Hutoushan village is only a rammed earth platform.

Field attractions

Garrison. Shoukou fort was built in the 25th year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty (1546 A.D.) and bricked in the 6th year of Longqing reign (1572 A.D.). The city is 220 feet high and three feet high. There is only one gate in the east of the city.

The Great Wall is about eight Li to the West from the town side fort, leaving Yanggao and entering Datong City. This section of loess rammed wall of the Great Wall is relatively complete.
