Harbin Forest Museum

Harbin forest museum is located in the cultural museum building of Northeast Forest University. The entrance is a large wooden relief, and the arch screen gives people the feeling of being on the scene. There are many animals and plants, minerals, soil specimens, especially the huge log specimens. The most distinctive is the staircase connecting the second and third floors, which is arranged as a real forest scene. There are trees, waterfalls, stones, wild wolves and birds singing on the branches.

There are nearly a thousand exhibits, including 30000 year old fossils of long dorsal fin sturgeon, specimens of African wild animals, and buildings and furniture related to primitive human life.

The museum uses objects, specimens, images, models, multimedia and other means to make visitors enjoy the beautiful forest scenery.

On June 16, 2017, China (Harbin) forest museum added a new member, a mammoth fossil. It is 6 meters long and about 3.5 meters high. It was excavated in Yakutsk area, Russia. 85% of its fossil bones are genuine. Some small bones such as caudal vertebrae and phalange bones can not be completely preserved due to their long history, and are now recovered. Mammoth fossil specimens need regular maintenance. For the new member's "health", the museum specially consulted experts in the province to ensure that the mammoth remains in the best condition and gives visitors the most perfect experience.

Visit information

In the future, the forest museum will be open to the public free of charge from 9:00 to 16:00 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, among which the commentators will explain for the visitors at 9:20 and 14:20.
