Zhaomingtai

Zhaomingtai, also known as Bell and Drum Tower, is a landmark antique building in Xiangyang ancient city. It was built in memory of Xiao Tong, Prince of Liang Zhaoming in the Southern Dynasty. According to historical records: "the building is in the center of the county, three stories high, facing the south, with bells and drums on its wings, which is a famous place in Fangcheng." In 1990, on the basis of researching more than 1000 years of history of zhaomingtai, zhaomingtai was rebuilt.

Zhaomingtai, the ancient city of Xiangyang, is a key cultural relic protection unit in Xiangyang City. Located in the middle of Xiangyang ancient city. Allusions of scenic spots

Also known as Shannan dongdaolou, it is located in the center of Xiangyang City and built across the southwest of Beijie street. The green brick platform is built with a stone arch in the middle. The hole is 4.5 meters high and 3.5 meters wide. On the platform, there are five double eaves and a hilltop style building with a height of about 15 meters. There are four horizontal houses in the East and West. There are one drum tower and one bell tower in the southwest. This building is majestic and magnificent in the city, which is known as "the first wonder in the city". The building's name has been changed. It has been named Shannan Dongdao, Nanping, Zhennan, zhaomingtai, gugaozhai and Zhonggulou. During the period of the Republic of China, Hubei library was built upstairs. During the Anti Japanese War, Xiangyang was occupied by the enemy, and the buildings were destroyed. In 1954, new buildings were built on both sides of the stage. After 1973, due to long rain, Taitung corner collapsed and was destroyed for convenience and safety. At the end of 1993, Xiangyang Municipal People's Government rebuilt the site 50 meters north of the original site, but the style and original appearance changed, and it was still named zhaomingtai.

Prince Zhaoming

The prince of Zhaoming, the eldest son of Emperor Wu of Liang Dynasty, was born in Xiangyang. He compiled selected works of Zhaoming Dynasty and later generations. The original name of zhaomingtai is wenxuanlou (wenxuanlou). It was renamed Shannan dongdaolou (Shannan dongdaolou) in Tang Dynasty. There are four character stone carvings of Shannan Dongdao (Shannan Dongdao) in Li Yangbing's seal script in Tang Dynasty. It was renamed "Zhonggulou" in Ming Dynasty, zhennanlou in Jiajing, and zhaomingtai after reconstruction in Shunzhi of Qing Dynasty.

In the south of the building, there is a stone arch in the platform, which is 4.5 meters high and 3.5 meters wide. There are five three eaves and two-story Xieshan buildings on the platform, about 15 meters high. There are four horizontal buildings in the East and West, and one drum tower and one bell tower in Tainan. Zhaomingtai is located in the city, majestic and spectacular, known as "the first scenic spot in the city" in ancient times. During the war of resistance against Japan, Xiangyang was occupied by the enemy and the buildings were destroyed. In 1973, it collapsed due to long rain. In 1993, it was rebuilt in the original site as a three story attic with high platform foundation and double eaves. Taijiquan cave, across the entrance of North Street. North Street is one of the most prosperous commercial streets in ancient Xiangyang City. It took three years to build an antique pedestrian street in 1993. The reconstructed Zhaoming terrace is made of modern building materials. On the base of the terrace, three storey pavilions are built according to the style of Wei and Jin Dynasties. The whole building is 34 meters high. Set shopping, sightseeing, culture and entertainment in one. There are many time-honored shops.
