Biology

Every winter, migratory birds migrate from south to north, and Kinmen is the most important relay point. Cihu Lake in Kinmen is the most important place for cormorants. Cormorants, a rare cormorants in Taiwan, always gather here in groups. At present, nearly 200 species of wild birds have been found, among which sandpipers are the most.

Cormorant, the scientific name: Phalacrocorax carbo sinensis, belonging to the cormorant family, is mainly distributed in southeastern Siberia, wusuri, Mongolia, Northeast Chinese mainland to Southern China, and Taiwan, Philippines, Borneo and other places. It mainly preys on fish. Usually, the diving depth is 1-3 meters below the water surface, and the diving time is 30-45 seconds. Sometimes, the diving depth is 9.5 meters, and the diving time is 71 seconds. After diving, they often stand on the shore or trees and spread their wings to expose their feathers.

Self driving: drive from Shangyi airport along Huandao South Road to Jincheng, then follow Minsheng Road to Huandao West Road, northbound to the bottom of the road, and then turn left. Take mass transportation: go to Jincheng station, take bus No.10 to Huning or No.11 to dingning, get off at Huxia station and walk to Cihu.
