In order to fully show the history of nearly 80 years since the opening of Lianyungang section of Longhai railway, Lianyungang Municipal Party committee and municipal government selected the old Lianyun railway station for construction and opened it to the public in October 2013.

Development history

Lianyungang History Museum of Longhai railway is located in the old Lianyun railway station, with an investment of more than 10 million yuan. It was basically completed on September 20, 2013 and officially opened to the public in October. The museum shows the history of Lianyungang section of Longhai Railway in preparation, construction and urban development with pictures, words and objects. Locomotives with steam locomotives, diesel locomotives and electrified locomotives are displayed outside the museum, which will become a special landscape of Lianyungang City.

Collection

Lianyungang History Museum of Longhai railway includes indoor and outdoor parts. The indoor exhibition hall takes time as a clue to show the construction history and development process of Lianyungang section of Longhai railway, and some objects, photos and documents related to Longhai railway. The outdoor part will be presented in the form of park attractions, mainly showing three real locomotives in the square in front of the old Lianyun railway station These three locomotives represent the different times of the development of steam engine, internal combustion engine and electrification.

Lianyungang History Museum of Longhai Railway draws on the construction experience of famous railway museums at home and abroad, and highlights the local characteristics of Lianyungang, which is very attractive. The indoor part of the Museum covers an area of about 1200 square meters and is divided into three floors. The main idea is to show the historical relationship between Longhai Railway and Lianyungang based on the clue of time. From the beginning of the construction of Lianyungang section of Longhai Railway to its completion and putting into use, the memorable events and the people who played an important role in this process are the key contents displayed in the exhibition hall. These contents will be presented in the context of the development of world railways and Chinese railways.

Lianyungang History Museum of Longhai railway will also show the important role of Longhai Railway in transportation. Adjacent to Haibin Avenue, Lianyun old street and port, the museum has unique resources. It is understood that after the completion of Haibin Avenue, a BRT platform will be set up here, which will be very convenient for tourists and citizens to visit in the future. The old Lianyun railway station also has a history of nearly 80 years. It is full of the customs of the Republic of China. It is inseparable from the Longhai Railway and complements the Longhai Railway Lianyungang history museum.
