Historical evolution

Jinnan Teachers College

The predecessor of Shanxi Normal University is Jinnan normal college, which was founded in 1958.

In 1959, the first graduation ceremony of Jinnan teachers college was held.

In 1962, after the adjustment of Shanxi's higher education system, it became the only normal university in Shanxi Province.

Shanxi Normal University

In 1964, it was expanded and renamed Shanxi Normal University, becoming one of the five old key universities in the province.

In 1972, the school recruited the first batch of workers, peasants and soldiers.

Shanxi Normal University

In 1984, it was expanded and renamed Shanxi Normal University.

In 1987, the first faculty Congress was held. On November 18, the Provincial Education Commission agreed that Shanxi Normal University and the Provincial Planning Commission jointly set up the "Shanxi Institute of sustainable development". On the 25th, Shanxi Institute of sustainable development was officially established in our university.

In 1999, Physical Education College of Shanxi Normal University and Shanxi Vocational Normal College were merged into the new Shanxi Normal University. On November 18, the foundation of the newspaper building of Shanxi Normal University was laid in Taiyuan, the provincial capital.

In 2006, the University became a doctor authorized unit.

On August 26, 2008, the University was approved to become an ordinary university recommending outstanding fresh undergraduate graduates to study for master's degree without examination. On September 15, the school held its 50th anniversary celebration.

In November 2018, the Ministry of Education announced the list of the first batch of excellent traditional Chinese culture inheritance bases, and Shanxi Normal University was selected.

In June 2020, the Shanxi Branch of Teacher Education Research Center of Beijing Normal University was founded in Shanxi Normal University.

General situation of paper publication

In 2011, the teachers of Shanxi Normal University published 614 academic papers, 253 of which were published in the Chinese core journals overview; another 109 papers were included in SCI, EI and ISTP, including 75 papers in scie, 48 papers in scicd, 67 papers in EI and 2 papers in ISTP.

In 2010, teachers of Shanxi Normal University published 678 academic papers, among which 297 papers were published in the core journals of the 2008 edition of the general catalogue of Chinese core journals; another 104 papers were included in SCI, EI, ISTP and SSCI, including 69 papers in scie, 51 papers in scicd, 58 papers in EI, 7 papers in ISTP and 1 paper in SSCI.
