Bayi glacier

Bayi glacier is located in yeniugou Township, Qilian County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, northwest of the people's Republic of China. It is the south slope of the middle Qilian Mountain corridor. It is the source of Heihe River Basin, the second largest inland river in China. According to the glacier catalogue data, Bayi glacier is the largest glacier in the headwaters of the mainstream of Heihe River.

The glaciers in the scenic area are like waterfalls falling down from the mountains, which is very spectacular. If it is a simple viewing, photography, no special outdoor equipment. The scenery of glaciers in summer is slightly worse, and the best seasons are September and October.

Bayi glacier

Bayi glacier (39 ° 01.00 ′ n, 98 ° 53.53 ′ e, glacier number 5y425l2), also known as xiaosalon glacier, is located in yeniugou Township, Qilian County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, northwest of the people's Republic of China, and on the south slope of Nanshan in the middle Qilian Mountain corridor. It is the source of Heihe River Basin, the second largest inland river in China.

Glacier location

From Qilian county to yeniugou Township, all the way along erga highway (S204). After driving about 153 km, in front of Heihe bridge, there is a signboard of Bayi glacier polar experience area pointing to Bayi glacier. The road leading to Bayi glacier is gravel road. Qilian county is building 33 km scenic asphalt highway. Due to the need of Qilian Mountain natural resources and environmental protection, Bayi glacier has stopped opening to the outside world!

Traffic information: there is no public transportation from Qilian to Bayi glacier, so it is recommended to drive or charter a car. Self driving: the road leading to Bayi glacier is very difficult. Go out from yeniugou township to the police station and follow that road all the way. After driving for several kilometers, there is a road sign pointing to Bayi glacier. That road is a gravel road, and you have to cross the river. After walking for about 50 kilometers, you can reach Bayi glacier

Chartered car: on the way to the glacier, you pass through Heihe Grand Canyon, Qilian deer farm and youhulu scenic area. It costs about 1200 yuan per day for a chartered car, and 800 yuan per day for an ordinary car
