The South River flows through zhuzangdong of Baokang County, converges with the South River, and enters Gucheng County from dongzhuangyu. Through the county to the grid mouth into the Han River. Hujiadu, 23 kilometers away from Gucheng County, built the largest hydropower station in Xiangfan City in the 1980s. Its magnificent dam made the river valley into a Pinghu Lake. It complements the beautiful mountains on both sides of the river. Its scenery is similar to the world-famous Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, so it is known as the "small Three Gorges of the South River". The organic combination of human landscape and natural landscape has formed a unique scenic area with local characteristics.

Main attractions

Nanhe scenic area is composed of "small Three Gorges" scenic area, Wulongshan scenic area, xianglushi scenic area, hot spring entertainment area and Baishuiyu scenic area, which is adjacent to Daxishan National Forest Park. The water of Nanhe river originates from Shennongjia and flows in the deep mountains and valleys. It is clear and pure. It is said that it is the water of Han Prime Minister Xiao He's wife, so it is also called "powder water". "Powder water clarification" is the first of the eight scenic spots in Gucheng. The Nanhe river meanders more than 30 kilometers in the gorge, with beautiful mountains and rivers and pleasant scenery. Since the completion of the Nanhe dam, it has formed a magnificent landscape of high gorge and Pinghu Lake. You can take a boat up the river, but you can see the cliffs on both sides of the river, the mountains and the rivers are rippling, the lakes and mountains are just like the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River. In the 57th year of Qianlong reign of Qing Dynasty, it was called "small Three Gorges" (Macheng gorge, shennu gorge and Wulong gorge). 　

Nanhe "small Three Gorges" is a newly developed natural scenic spot in recent years. The "small Three Gorges" river originates from the Shennongjia forest region. It has a long history of "Fenshui clarification", "Wenlong academy" and other cultural landscapes, as well as the uncanny "Diaoyutai", "xianglutai" and other natural landscapes. It's named after the world-famous Three Gorges of the Yangtze River. It is a unique scenic spot. The rivers and mountains are surrounded by water, and the water level is like a mirror. The mountains on both sides are emerald, and the peaks are dangerous and the rocks are strange, stretching for more than 30 Li. Central China is famous for its green mountains, beautiful waters, secluded caves, strange rocks and ancient trees. There are more than 100 landscapes, including Huanglong cave, Niangniang cave, Qinglong Panshu, censer stone, farmhouse Museum and Yueliangwan hot spring.

Lianhua Cave

Lotus cave, 4 meters wide and 10 meters high, covers an area of about 40 square meters. On the wall of the cave, there are stalactites, which are similar to the lotus platform of Guanyin and Buddha statues. On the top of the cave, there are water embroidered patterns, some like palace lanterns, some like dragons and phoenixes, and some like stone embroidered water curtains. The ribbon is floating. The wonder is that there are 50 lotus petals surrounded by Buddha statues. You can feel the feeling of Buddha land in Xianshan.

Stalagmite cave

Stalagmite cave is 13 meters high and 15 meters wide. There are white stone patterns in the cave. It looks like a bamboo shoot, so it is named. The cave is deep and precipitous, foggy and absorbing sunlight. The local people call it "black cave". Inside the cave, there are three holes, big, middle and small, which are connected. Under the cave, there are gurgling water, and the two walls have different patterns. Some are like bamboo, some are like bamboo shoots, some are like penholder, some are like tower; some are like the old man in the field, some are like the old man in the mushroom. Beautiful pictures are embedded in the two walls of the cave.

Censer stone

The mushroom shaped "incense burner stone" standing in the river bed in the lower reaches of the small Three Gorges of Nanhe river is said to be a incense burner stone for people to burn incense and pay homage to King Wen of Zhou after Pangu opened the world. It is another wonder of Wudang.

Ticket price: 35 yuan

Free tickets for children under 1.1 meters, half tickets for children over 1.1 meters and under 1.4 meters, half tickets for students, half tickets for soldiers and disabled people with relevant certificates, half tickets for people over 60 and under 70, and half tickets for people over 70.

Offer information

On February 20, 2020, Hubei announced that all A-level tourist attractions will be free of tickets for medical aid team members within five years. Gucheng County Nanhe small Three Gorges scenic spot is one of them.
