Sino German fossil Geopark

Among the Jehol Biota in western Liaoning Province, Yixian area is rich in fossil resources, with complete genera and species and exquisite preservation, which can be called "the world's treasure house of fossil resources". In 2004, a local farmer discovered a strange stone in the shape of vertebrae. Since then, Jinzhou dragon, which has been buried underground for 12.4 million years, has been discovered for the first time. In view of this amazing discovery, Yixian government cooperated with Dr. Bohr, a famous German fossil collector, to establish the present-day Yixian Sino German fossil Geopark on the basis of the discovery of Jinzhou dragon.

The Sino German fossil Geopark, covering an area of 40000 square meters, was officially opened to the public in August 2008. It is the first foreign-funded and Sino foreign cooperative project in Yixian County and the first paleontological fossil Geopark in Liaoning Province.

Introduction to the park

Sino German fossil Geopark is located in the north mountain of botaizi, HEJIAXIN village, Toutai Town, Yi County, Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, which echoes the famous scenic spot wanfotang grottoes. The design style of the park highlights the characteristics of paleontology fossils. There are large stepped geological sections, paleontology Fossil Museum, wood stone forest, groundwater artificial lake, characteristic Mongolian yurt group and other landscape designs in the scenic area. Large scale stepped three-dimensional geological section is the biggest feature of the park. Visitors can get close contact with fossils here, experience the unique charm of fossils, and experience the mystery and magic of geological layers in the process of geological change.

While receiving tourists and scholars at home and abroad, the park also uses its advanced technology to make various large and medium-sized fossil models for many museums at home and abroad, spreading the fossil culture to all corners of the world.

Scenery

Large scale stepped geological section

There are two large geological sections in the park. One is for scientific research and the other is open to tourists. Here, visitors can see the beautiful scenery, get close contact with fossils, experience the unique charm of fossils, and experience the mystery and magic of geological layers in the process of geological changes.

Museum of Paleontology and fossils

In the museum, there are geological corridor, three bionic exhibition areas of dinosaur life era, fossil exhibition area, fossil specimen restoration exhibition area, science popularization film and television hall, etc. Among them, the geological corridor starts from the inanimate Proterozoic and introduces the whole process of the earth's evolution. The fossil exhibition area contains a large number of precious fossils at home and abroad, showing a considerable number of famous biological fossils found in western Liaoning, especially in Yixian. The exhibition area of fossil specimen restoration is a feature of Sino German fossil Geopark. In this exhibition area, visitors can see the professionals in the museum repairing and making the collected fossil specimens. If conditions permit, professionals sometimes provide visitors with the opportunity to make fossil specimens or small models by themselves.

Wood stone forest

The woody stone forest is located on the west side of the park. All the fossils in the forest are unearthed locally and piled up with various modeling techniques.

Artificial lake of groundwater

The reed in the pool combines with the flowing water, and combines strength with gentleness, forming a beautiful waterscape. The lake is clear. Standing by the lake and looking at the mountains in the distance, the feeling of tranquility comes with it.

Mongolian yurts

There are large-scale yurts in the park, which can be used for food and lodging.

40 yuan. Free ticket policy: children under 1 meter height free.
