Linhai volcano is located in dakantou village of Taozhu scenic area. According to geologists, it was still a shallow reef forest about 80 million years ago. The magma in the bottom of the sea suddenly gathered, jostled each other, broke through the crust with irresistible force, and spewed out thousands of fire streams. The sea retreated, and the mountains burst out. After the volcanic magma cools, it forms a hexagonal column, which geologists call columnar joints. Because its shape is like coral, commonly known as coral rock. After many vicissitudes, more than 15 million hexagonal pillars have been preserved here. Their shape and development can be regarded as typical in geological history, which is comparable with similar pillars in Hawaii and Ireland.
