Yangen University

Yangen university is located in Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. Founded in 1987 by the Yangen foundation established by patriotic overseas Chinese Mr. Wu Qingxing and his family, the university has been approved by the State Education Commission as a full-time ordinary university. It was run by Fujian Provincial Government in 1988. In order to meet the needs of national education reform, since July 1994, as a pilot of China's education reform, Yangen university has been independently run by Yangen foundation. It is the first private university in China to issue National Undergraduate Certificate and bachelor's degree. In 2008, it passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education with good results, and became the first private university in Fujian Province to pass the undergraduate teaching evaluation.

Historical evolution

Yangen College of Huaqiao University

In 1987, the Yangen foundation, founded by Mr. Wu's family, was funded and built. It was jointly run by Fujian Provincial Education Committee and Huaqiao University and managed by them. It was named Yangen College of Huaqiao University.

Yangen College

In August 1989, the State Education Commission approved that Yangen college should be independent of Huaqiao University. The name of the college is Yangen College (department level). The Fujian provincial Party committee and the provincial government should provide the school leadership and teaching staff, and the Fujian Provincial Education Commission should directly manage it. Yangen Foundation donated all the school assets to Fujian provincial government.

In March 1992, the State Education Commission said to the Fujian provincial government that "with the approval of the State Council, it is agreed that Yangen University will be established in your province on the basis of Yangen University" and "it will be funded by Mr. Wu Qingxing, run by the state and led by the Fujian Provincial people's government."

In 1993, the State Education Commission sent special personnel to the Yangen foundation to suggest that Mr. Wu should run the University solely and make Yangen university a private university as a pilot of national education reform.

 

In December 2007, Yangen University and Xiamen University signed a support cooperation agreement.

In 2008, Yangen University passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education with good results.

In March 2018, Yangen University was awarded the "smart teaching pilot project" by the online education research center of the Ministry of education.

 

In March 2019, Yangen University became the executive director of Fujian University Industry College Development Alliance.

 

In October, the school was approved as the second batch of "1 + X" vocational skill level certificate system pilot institutions by the Ministry of education.

The emblem of Yangen University was designed and drawn by Wu Qingxing, chairman of Yangen foundation in 1988. The design is Xiangong mountain, the highest peak in the northern suburb of Quanzhou, a famous historical and cultural city in China. Xiangong mountain, commonly known as Shuangji mountain, is also known as Bijia mountain because it is similar to the ancient penholder for writing. It is one of the places of interest where Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism mingle, and has a history of more than 1300 years.
