Shushan martyrs cemetery in Hefei

Hefei Shushan martyrs cemetery is located at the east foot of the beautiful Dashushan mountain in the western suburb of Hefei, covering an area of 107400 square meters. It is one of the largest martyrs cemetery in Anhui Province. It is mainly composed of "Anhui revolutionary martyrs' deeds exhibition hall", "Dashushan Revolutionary Cemetery", "Memorial square" and "martyrs' monument".

In January 1995, the martyrs' cemetery was listed by the Ministry of civil affairs of the people's Republic of China and the people's Government of Anhui Province as the patriotic education base of the whole country and the whole province. In August 1989, Anhui revolutionary martyrs exhibition hall was approved by the State Council as "national key martyrs memorial building protection unit". The gate of the cemetery is engraved with six gold characters of "Shushan martyrs cemetery" written by Zhang Kaifan, former chairman of Anhui Provincial Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference. There are two small stone bridges in the lotus pond. Stone carvings of 12 Chinese zodiac animals were placed beside the pond. Entering the gate of the mausoleum, you can climb up the 189 steps to the 8000 square meter Memorial square. In the center of the west side of the square stands a monument to the martyrs, on which Zhou Enlai inscribes "the revolutionary martyrs will live forever". On both sides of the square are the north and South exhibition halls of Anhui revolutionary martyrs' deeds exhibition hall. The exhibition hall started construction in December 1978 and was officially on display on July 1, 1981. The museum displays the brilliant achievements of 190 martyrs who died from the first and second Civil Revolutionary Wars to the socialist revolutionary construction period, more than 450 pictures and relics of martyrs, manuscripts of martyrs, famous characters and paintings, leaders' inscriptions and so on. It also stores 58 British lists of martyrs in the whole province, recording the names of 57623 martyrs.
