From 1910 to 1911, Tang lichen and Tian Yingquan, the Miao patriots in Fenghuang, established a new regime of the National Revolution - Xiangxi military government, and held celebrations in Tianwang temple. In the temple of heavenly king, there are still slogans of the Xinhai revolutionary uprising army.

According to legend, the three kings were Yang Shenglong, Yang shengbiao and Yang shengzuan, the military and civilian generals of Jingzhou in Xuanfu of the Southern Song Dynasty. From the end of Shaoxing to the beginning of Chunxi in the Southern Song Dynasty, there are Chen county (today's Chenxi area), "Tu man rebel Fu Shou" Gong Zhide, Gong Zhiqi, according to Pushi area, "burn and plunder Lu Ma"; Du ye (today's qiliangqiao Village), "man chieftain" Jiguan king he Che; Gaodu "mob" Zhou Yan, Zhou Dexing, and "Dong chieftain" together, "select nine thousand fierce thieves", "ravage the border of Chu, and disturb Changde in Western Hunan" Yan Er Rong, the sheriff, was unable to fight against the riots. He reported to the court of the Southern Song Dynasty and sent troops to exterminate them. Emperor Xiaozong of the Song Dynasty ordered the three brothers of the Yang family to fight. There is a folk song praising the merits and virtues of the Yang brothers: "thirty six people killed nine thousand people in front of the gate of Qiliang cave. Ancient events

The Sanwang temple should have been built around 1183. The three kings are most famous in the Miao area, especially the Miao people, who are so afraid of them that they are so awed by them that they ignore the status of the Tathagata and the Jade Emperor and simply change the name of "three kings" to "heavenly kings". In the 16th year of Daoguang (1836), the prince of Qing Dynasty, Fu Guoyong, was waiting for Yang Fang, the chief soldier of the town, to write a gold plaque of "San Gong Tian Ren".

In 1798 (the second year of Jiaqing) and 1856 (the sixth year of Xianfeng) of the Qing Dynasty, the rulers in Western Hunan used the divine power to rule the Miao area. They made up the miracles of the heavenly king, sealed the "three Marquis" and set up the "three Marquis Temple" to subdue the people. In November 1911, Tang lichen, Tian Yingquan and Tian Yingzhao, the Phoenix people, led the Recovery Army to respond to the revolution of 1911 and vowed righteousness. After the defeat of the siege, the town officials in the city sent four townships to search and arrest the young peasants who were suspected to have participated in the attack on the city. The arrested peasants yelled "unjust" and the officials could not identify them. So they went to the temple of the heavenly king to accept the "divine judgment" and cast a lot to decide life and death“ God's judgment is damned. Although it's unjust, there's nothing to say. The Lord of heaven has decided how to plead! In the end, some people were executed.

Modern events

Tianwang temple is not only a historical site of Fenghuang, a model of national ancient architecture, but also a memorial of the 1911 Revolution.

From 1910 to 1911, Tang lichen and Tian Yingquan, the Miao patriots in Fenghuang, planned to rally the volunteers in Songtao, Fenghuang, Qianzhou, yongsui and other places to take an oath of uprising and attack fenghuangting city. They won the victory on November 13, 1911, and established the military government of Xiangxi, the new political power of the national revolution, and held celebrations in Tianwang temple. At that time, Li Yuanhong, President of the Republic of China, learned that after the restoration of Phoenix, he wrote a special letter "Xing Xie Zhou Zhi" (now engraved in "Du Mu yuan"). There are still eight slogans and creeds of the 1911 revolutionary uprising army in the temple.
