Sanjiang Drum Tower is located in Yueyue street, Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County, Guangxi. It was built in November 2002 by a team of folk building and Bridge masters headed by Yang Siyu, a famous Dong folk craftsman. It has many functions, such as culture, appreciation, tourism and so on.

Sanjiang Drum Tower is 42.6 meters high, with 60 stigmas on the ground, covering an area of 600 square meters. The drum tower has 27 floors of tile eaves. Except for the two floors on the top of the tower, the other 25 floors have equidistant tile surfaces, which make the floor pyramid shaped and dignified. Each floor has light eaves, exquisite carving and bright colored eaves, which is in sharp contrast with the huge and rough building. The diameter of the four Chinese fir columns in the building is more than 70 cm, and the tree age is more than 100 years, which is the only one in the history of Gulou architecture. On the viewing platform of the drum tower, you can have a panoramic view of the three rivers.

The diameter of the four main columns of Chinese fir supporting the drum tower is more than 70 cm. The first pillar is 208 years old, 85 cm DBH and 27 m long. The second pillar is 206 years old, and the third and fourth pillars are more than 100 years old. This is rare in the history of Drum Tower architecture.

The design of the drum tower takes the advantages of the others and is unique. It has a 4-storey viewing platform with the highest one on the 25th floor. On the base stone of the drum tower, there are reliefs reflecting the daily life scenes of the Dong people, such as robbing fireworks, stepping on song hall, playing Camellia oleifera, fighting chickens and birds, raising silkworms and weaving. The drum tower architecture is antique and unique in style, which is not only the legacy of ancient architecture, but also the unique taste of adjusting measures to local conditions.

Whether it is a tower or a pavilion style Drum Tower, in front of the drum tower, there is a site paved with bluestone slabs or pebbles, commonly known as "Drum Tower terrace", and a stage is often built beside it. Drum Tower beams are hanging leather drum, about 34 feet long, Dong language called "money drum", hanging a blow, heard in the distance. It is said that it is not a general drum for entertainment, but an authoritative drum for mass use specially held by the "leader". Whenever there is a big event, "money head" (village leader) on the tower drum, the village members heard, gathered in Gulou Ping. If there is a village fire or a mountain fire, beat drums and call for help. As soon as the emergency situation spread, the villagers rushed to the scene of the accident for rescue.

At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the Dong people in Sanjiang launched a massive armed struggle against donations, which was to mobilize the masses by beating drums to report the news. The main function of Drum Tower is a place for Dong people to rest and play. During the new year's festival, people gather in Gulou Ping to play Lusheng, dance dragon lantern, step on song hall, perform Dong opera, and carry out various cultural and recreational activities.
