Liaoning Museum of paleontology is located in the campus of Shenyang Normal University. It is approved by Liaoning government and jointly built by Liaoning Provincial Department of land and resources and Shenyang Normal University. By 2011, it is the largest museum of Paleontology in China, covering an area of 19000 square meters and a building area of 15000 square meters. It opened in 2011. There are 8 exhibition halls and 16 exhibition areas, including earth and early life, Liaoning paleontology over the past 3 billion years, Jehol biota, international paleontological fossils, rare fossils, Liaoning large dinosaurs, etc.

Development history

In August 2005, with the approval of Liaoning provincial government, Liaoning Provincial Department of land and resources and Shenyang Normal University signed an agreement to cooperate in the construction of Liaoning paleontological Museum

The construction of the museum officially started on June 6, 2007; the external construction of the overall building was basically completed in July 2009; the interior decoration and exhibition were started in September 2009

Liaoning Museum of paleontology has a collection of more than 10000 pieces and more than 200 pieces of precious fossils.
