Fuzhou Fairy Cave

Located in the western suburb of Yihuang County, Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province, there is a towering Xianyan mountain. The purple mountain stretches from east to west. From a distance, it looks like a rainbow lying on a slope. From a close view, it looks like a dragon taking off. At the western end of the beautiful Xianyan mountain, there is a magical cave formed by Danxia landform. The cave is about 6 meters wide, 3 meters high outside, more than 20 meters high inside and more than 40 meters deep. There is a 100 meter hall in the cave, which is warm in winter and cool in summer. It can hold thousands of people.

Introduction to Fairy Cave

Xiandong, also known as Xianyan, is located near huangpiqiao village, Fenggang town. It is a stone mountain. There is a through hole for visitors to enter. It is an open area. Cave area of 40 square meters, there are boulders like bed, like table, like chessboard, known as "fairy bed", "fairy table", "chessboard stone". It's quiet all around and lush with trees and bamboos. There is a reading hall in yannei. It is said that Wang Anshi, a statesman of ningdai, once studied here. In 1204, Wu Shao, the county magistrate of song Jiatai, carved the three words "study hall", which still exist today. Xu Xiake, a geographer of the Ming Dynasty, once toured here. In his travels, Xu Xiake recorded that "the rock is as high as the golden screen, and the upper dome is forced downward, and the west side of it is suddenly through the wall gate. If you enter through the stone, the mountains will be like another world. But the rock is very thin, not particularly on the south wall, but on the North dome, which is even more strange. Just like the Tianyan of Du, the scenery is also the most strange. " In the Ming Dynasty, there were two temples in the South and North, which were later abolished.

Folklore

It is said that tie Guai Li, the head of the eight immortals, once played chess with LV Dongbin here. When it was hard to decide whether to win or lose, Tieguai Li accidentally hit a big hole with his fingers, and suddenly the cool wind slowly poured in to dispel the heat. The stones on the rock mountain beat the pieces on the table disorderly, solved the problem of tie Guai Li's defeat, and achieved the effect of killing two birds with one stone. Therefore, for thousands of years, the local people used to call this place "Fairy Cave". Xiandong temple has always been surrounded by the fragrance of Buddhism. There have been performances of Haiyan opera, Yiyang opera, Yihuang opera, etc

According to Yihuang County annals by Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty, Wang Anshi was only 13 years old during the Northern Song Dynasty (around 1034). He picked up a bamboo bookcase from Linchuan and came to Xiandong temple to learn from Du ziye (also known as Mr. Mengzhou). In the grottoes on the north side of the east end of Xianyan mountain, Wang Anshi accepted the education idea of "independence and autonomy" and often "appreciated the wonders and discussed the doubts" with him. Once, he read all night, until the sun came to the window, the table is still a lamp like beans. That day, Wang Anshi forgot all about cooking on duty. When Mr. Wang came to inquire, Wang Anshi woke up from the book and ran to the village at the foot of the mountain to borrow a fire. When he took the fire back to the cave, the gentleman said angrily and with a smile, "how can you go for a distance? Can't the reading lamp on the desk be ignited?" He was also punished for writing a poem with the title of "cooking by mistake". Wang Anshi whispered: "it's dawn to study hard and forget hunger when the sun is high. If you had known that the lamp was on fire, how long would the rice be cooked? " This moving story has been handed down for nearly a thousand years, and the grotto where Wang Anshi studied hard has been known as Wang Anshi's "study hall" since the Northern Song Dynasty. On the inner wall of the grottoes, there are also three big characters of "study hall", which are the stone carvings of Li Xi, the right advisor of the Southern Song Dynasty.
