The total storage capacity of the reservoir is 36.64 million cubic meters, the dead storage capacity is 50000 cubic meters, the profitable storage capacity is 31.19 million cubic meters, and the flood regulation storage capacity is 5.4 million cubic meters.

The main buildings of the reservoir are composed of main dam, water conveyance tunnel, penstock, powerhouse, auxiliary dam, spillway, sand flushing tunnel, etc. The main dam is a sand shell dam with clay core, the maximum dam height is 34.5m, the dam crest length is 160.50m, and the auxiliary dam is a sand gravel dam with geomembrane horizontal covering, the dam height is 10m, and the length is 293M.

The project was officially started in August 1987, impounded in late August 1991 and completed in 1992. At present, the reservoir has serious leakage, the geomembrane horizontal blanket is aging and failure, and the service gate has serious leakage. It is identified as a class III dam, which needs reinforcement and maintenance. It needs to invest 22.13 million yuan, and the planned construction period is 2 years.

Post earthquake reinforcement

Heishishan reservoir is located 4 kilometers north of Delingha City, Haixi Prefecture. It is a comprehensive medium-sized reservoir mainly for irrigation and flood control, supplemented by power generation, tourism and breeding. The total storage capacity is 36.64 million cubic meters. The reservoir is affected by complex geological conditions and earthquake, and the leakage is relatively large. After the m S6.6 earthquake occurred in Delingha area in 2003, the leakage of the dam was aggravated. In order to ensure the safe operation of the reservoir, our province raised 8 million yuan to reinforce the Heishishan reservoir after the earthquake. After on-site inspection and listening to the report, relevant experts believe that the post earthquake reinforcement treatment project of Heishishan reservoir has been basically completed in accordance with the approved contents of the design, and the project quality has been recognized by the provincial quality supervision station. After treatment, the leakage of the main dam section has been reduced by 94%, basically achieving the purpose of post earthquake reinforcement treatment. After treatment, the water storage in that year is 4.32 million cubic meters more than that in previous years, The project has brought initial benefits into play.
