Located in Tianxin village, Pingyang Township, Tongdao Dong Autonomous County, Matian Drum Tower is a national key cultural relic protection unit. It was built in Shunzhi period of Qing Dynasty and is a unique Dong building. Square two storey Pavilion, nine floors and eight columns, wood structure. The side is 8 meters wide and 20 meters high. The top cover is octagonal with a gourd top. The eaves and beams are painted with folk pictures, and the eaves are decorated with animal reliefs. A fire pool is set at the bottom and wooden benches are set around. The front of the second floor is equipped with movable wall, which can also be used as a stage. The first to the eighth floor are all four corners, and the ninth floor is octagonal. Cultural relics protection

Matian Drum Tower is one of the three national key cultural relics protection units of Tongdao.

The location of Ma Tian Drum Tower is called Ma Tian Village. Matian village is a relatively large village in this area. In the past, there were stilted houses near the drum tower. During the cultural revolution, during the movement of "migration to the mountain", villagers moved their houses to the mountain, and the vacant homestead was transformed into good farmland. The drum tower was first built in the reign of emperor Shunzhi of Qing Dynasty (1644-1661). It was rebuilt in 1948, covering an area of 240 square meters, and its plane is rectangular. The height of the drum tower is 18.72 meters; the ground floor is rectangular, the eaves from the first floor to the eighth floor are four corners, and the ninth floor is octagonal.

Pure wood frame

The mastian Drum Tower is a dry column type beam lifting pure wood frame, and the North-South symmetrical side building is a Xieshan type. Its top cornice is parallel to the second floor of the main building, and the next cornice is connected with the first floor of the main building, resulting in the ground floor space and the second floor stage, which makes the side building and the main building integrated and magnificent.

In the drum tower, the square, column and melon are selected in different forms, and the distribution is uneven. The three-dimensional characters of "Wu Hua Tian Bao, Guo Tai Min An, Ji Xing Gao Zhao" are engraved on the horizontal square from the first floor to the second floor. Small pieces of painted patterns and rolled grass patterns with ethnic characteristics constitute an orderly and distinct art decoration, which is a treasure of Dong culture and art. All kinds of flowers, birds and insects are painted on the external eaves of the drum tower, with bright lines and gorgeous colors.
