Former site of the puppet Ministry of culture and education

The former site of Manchukuo Ministry of culture and education in Xinjing is located at No. 696, liberty Road, Changchun. The original building is a concave two-story building with the main door facing north. It is of reinforced concrete structure and no other ancillary buildings. It covers an area of 10000 square meters and was completed in 1938.

When the puppet Manchukuo was founded, it first set up the Department of culture and education in the administrative department. On July 15, 1932, the Ministry of culture and education was established on the basis of the Department of culture and education. The office address was first in the former Jilin army hospital (now Xisi Road), and then moved to Guodu Construction Bureau (now the former site of people's Square municipal Party committee). The Ministry of culture and education is in charge of education, religion, customs and national thought. There are general affairs department, academic affairs department and ethics department. In 1937, the Ministry of culture and education was abolished, and the Department of education and the Department of society were set up in the Ministry of people's livelihood. In April 1943, the Education Department of the Ministry of people's livelihood was abolished, the Ministry of culture and education was restored, and the new building was moved into. In the Ministry of culture and education, there are four departments, namely, the minister's office, the Department of academic affairs, the Department of teaching, and the Department of education. In January 1945, a student diligent company was set up.

After the restoration of Changchun in 1945, the building was used by national Changchun University.
