Dongping Road
Dongping road is a street in the northeast of Xuhui District, Shanghai, China. The road runs East-West from Yueyang Road in the east to Urumqi South Road in the west, with a total length of about 400 meters and a width of 11.5 meters to 12.4 meters.
Dongping Road, formerly known as route Francis Garnier, was built by the Shanghai Council of the French concession in 1913. At that time, it belonged to the nature of cross-border road construction and was named after the French consul general in Shanghai in 1880. The next year, the road was included in the French Concession during the expansion of the French concession. In 1943, when Wang Jingwei took over the French concession in Shanghai, he renamed Dongping road from Dongping, Shandong Province.
Dongping road is a famous residential area in Shanghai, with good greening and few pedestrians. It is a famous "Lovers Road" in Shanghai. The famous houses include No.5, No.9 AI Lu and No.11 Song Zi Wen. After 1949, Shanghai Peking opera academy and Shanghai Conservatory of music affiliated high school were set up here.
