Hubei Dakou National Forest Park is located in Zhongxiang City, Hubei Province, at the south foot of Dahong mountain scenic spot, 30 kilometers away from Yingzhong city of Zhongxiang; it is adjacent to Taizishan in the East, Qujialing in the south, zaodang line in the north, and Han River in the West; it covers a total area of 1590 hectares, with a forest coverage rate of over 90%.

Hubei Dakou provincial forest park was built in 1992. In July 1995, the former Ministry of forestry approved the establishment of Dakou National Forest Park. The park has a subtropical monsoon climate with a unique microclimate. There is no severe cold in winter and no severe heat in summer. The annual average temperature is 15.9 ℃ and the park is dominated by low mountain landform with an average altitude of 350 meters. The main vegetation is deciduous broad-leaved forest and coniferous broad-leaved mixed forest.

Hubei Dakou National Forest Park is divided into four scenic spots, namely, nine level Tianxi scenic spot, Yuntai scenic spot, yingzidong scenic spot and liumenkou scenic spot, with a total of 17 scenic spots. There are some Buddhist temples, Buddhist temples and Taoist temple sites in the park.

In June 2020, it will be included in the list of the first batch of National Forest Rehabilitation bases.

Development history

In 1957, the state-owned Taizishan forest farm of Hubei Province established liujiashimen branch in today's Dakou area.

In 1958, it was under the jurisdiction of Jingzhou and Zhongxiang. It was once changed into an independent forest farm and immediately belonged to panshiling forest farm.

In 1959, it was renamed state-owned Dakou forest farm, covering an area of 63000 mu, directly under the leadership of Zhongxiang county.

In 1992, Hubei Dakou provincial forest park was established.

In July 1995, with the approval of the former Ministry of forestry, Dakou National Forest Park was established.

Hubei Dakou National Forest Park is located in Zhongxiang City, Hubei Province, at the south foot of Dahong mountain scenic spot, 30 kilometers away from Yingzhong city of Zhongxiang City, adjacent to Taizishan in the East, Qujialing in the south, zaodang line in the north, Han River in the west, with a total area of 1590 hectares. The center of the park is roughly located at 31 ° 06 'n and 112 ° 49' E.

Geological characteristics

Dahongshan, located in Dakou National Forest Park, Hubei Province, is a folded body, which belongs to the contact zone of Sino Korean platform and yangzihuai platform in geotectonics. At the end of Silurian, due to the influence of Yanshanian movement, it uplifted into land and became a part of the West Wing of the front arc of the Huaiyin (Dabie) mountain shaped system. The southern foot of Dahong mountain is characterized by fold fault block mountain, which is composed of Paleozoic, Mesozoic carbonate rocks, clastic rocks and Proterozoic metamorphic rocks.

The annual average temperature is 15.9 ℃, the average temperature from July to August is 27.9 ℃, the average temperature from January to February is 3 ℃, the extreme high temperature is 38 ℃, the extreme low temperature is - 14.3 ℃. The frost free period is 260 days, the annual rainfall is 1000 mm, the winter is warm and the summer is cool, the rainfall is abundant, the mountains are cloudy and humid.

The main vegetation of Hubei Dakou National Forest Park is deciduous broad-leaved forest and coniferous broad-leaved mixed forest, and the forest coverage rate is more than 90%. As of 2013, there are more than 500 species of plants in the park, including 438 woody plants, and 12 national protected and rare plants, such as Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Ginkgo biloba, Cunninghamia lanceolata, peach, Eucommia ulmoides Oliv., Platycladus orientalis, etc. As of 2015, there are 2200 mu of Bijie Baila in the park.

As of 2014, there are more than 50 kinds of wild animals in Hubei Dakou National Forest Park, of which 8 are listed as national protected rare animals, and the common animals are jackal, leopard, egret, kitten, squirrel, Rhododendron, thrush, etc.

Main attractions

Liumenkou scenic spot

Liumenkou waterfall: located in the southeast of Hubei Dakou National Forest Park, the source of the waterfall is Hufeng mountain. The waterfall has four steps, with a drop of 80 meters and a width of 8-10 meters. There is a deep pool under it.

Yingzidong scenic spot

Songmen Temple: built in the Zhenguan period of Tang Dynasty, it is located in the middle end of Jingzhong Ancient Road (ancient official road, today there is Qingshiban Road site). Today it is a site with inscriptions on the site of the temple.

Yingzi Cave: on the cave, there is a waterfall with a width of 6 meters and a drop of 36 meters, which looks like a silver curtain. On the side wall of the waterfall, there are hundreds of caves of different sizes, which are like peak nests, and connected with each other. They can pass through the waterfall and enter it in zigzag circles. On summer afternoons, in the setting sun, on top of the waterfall, there are sometimes "Rainbow reflecting pools" landscape.

Yuntai scenic spot

Tiaojiao mountain: the highest peak of Jianghan Plain, 565.4 meters above sea level. Visitors can observe the sunrise, sunset, rain, fog and clouds, overlook the rural houses, and look at the sails of Hanjiang River.

Bailu Temple: built in Zhenguan period of early Tang Dynasty, it is located in the middle of Jingzhong ancient road. Now it is a site with inscriptions on the site.

Star eye: also known as floor drain, the hole in the sky, visible sun, moon and stars, star eye a total of 2, the hole depth of about 200 meters.

Cunninghamia lanceolata a line of sky: located on the ground, the Cunninghamia lanceolata forest is 15-18 meters high, and the forest road runs through it, like a line of sky.

Baizhang deep stream: located in the valley between the two mountains on the north slope of Yuntaiguan, it is 150 meters deep and 110 meters long from the top to the bottom of the valley.

Jiuji Tianxi scenic spot

Xiaotianchi: also known as shangxiatianchi, shangtianchi is a triangle with an area of 93 square meters and a water depth of 2.3 meters; xiatianchi is a rectangle with an area of 175 square meters and a water depth of 2 meters. The distance between shangxiatianchi and xiatianchi is 4 meters. Tianchi waterfall is 8 meters wide and the water is clear.

Jiuji Tianxi: located under Xiaotianchi, the stream is divided into jiudi waterfall, with a width of 6.2-9.6 meters and a maximum drop distance of 5 meters. When summer comes, the sound of Yulian is like thunder.

Wulong Cave: the entrance is in the shape of "Ya", with clear spring overflowing all the year round; there are stalactites on the top wall, with different shapes, which is the main landscape of the big entrance.

Guishan mountain: the mountain is named for its shape. Guibei peak is 331.5 meters above sea level. It is gentle up and down, steep in the middle, and has two peaks. There is a huge stone arched from the top of the mountain, just like a golden turtle.

Wulongtai: it is located at the origin of wulongtong cave. According to historical records, it was originally a market town of Chu state during the Warring States period in China, and many cultural relics have been unearthed.

Up to 2006, there are 120 program-controlled telephones in Dakou National Forest Park, which can receive 100 people for accommodation, 200 people for meals and meetings at the same time.

According to the official website of Hubei provincial government in October 2014, in recent years, Huiyuan Group plans to invest 14.2 billion yuan in the construction of "China Agricultural Valley · Huiyuan eco industrial park", whose core area is located in Dakou National Forest Park of Zhongxiang City; Huiyuan eco industrial park includes facility agriculture demonstration base, fruit forest viewing and picking base, urban greening seedlings and flowers The base, "China Agricultural Valley Forum" Exhibition Center, agricultural culture museum and other facilities are under construction.
