Ningbo Wenfeng tower

Wenfeng tower stands on the top of Yuelong mountain in Ninghai. It is the most prominent ancient building in Yuelong mountain. It is the center of yuelongshan and the end of the line of sight for visitors to enter the entrance of yuelongshan Park and look up to the top of the mountain from low.

Wenfeng tower is located in yuelongshan, Ninghai County. It is a brick tower built in the late Ming Dynasty. The tower, 32 meters high, is a hollow brick tower with six sides and nine floors. The eaves of each tower are made of water caltrop teeth, with an arch on each side and niches on each floor.

Construction process

The Wenfeng pagoda, built in 1582 at the main peak of Yuelong mountain, was built to carry forward the spirit of the sages and revive the "literary style" of Ninghai.

In the third year of Jianwen (1401), Zhu Di, the king of Yan, conspired against entering the capital. Emperor Hui burned to death. On the third day of the Qing Dynasty, he killed the old officials. Wu Yun, general of Zhenfu, presented Zhu Di to Fang Xiaoru. Before entering the capital, military adviser Yao Guangxiao once admonished Zhu Di and said, "if there is Fang Xiaoru in the south, he has always learned to practice. When he becomes a martial artist, he will not surrender and kill him. If you kill them, there will be no books in the world. " Di nodded and agreed. He ordered Xiaoru to draft an imperial edict to ascend the throne. Xiaoru, however, went to the palace wearing a pair of hemp and filial piety, scolded Zhu Di and refused to issue a cursory edict. For this reason, he was killed by Zhu Di and killed ten ethnic groups. There were 873 dead and thousands of prisoners and exiles. In the Ming Dynasty, Wanli built a pagoda to show that the seeds of reading are continuous, to break the situation of "ten thousand horses are silent" in the literary world, to eliminate the psychological obstacles of Ninghai scholars, to revive the style of writing, and to hope for talents to emerge in large numbers.

Wenfeng pagoda of yuelongshan in Ninghai County was built by yilinghuangchun in 1582. The tower has 8 floors and is 22.6 meters high. In 1861, the first year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty, the top of the tower was struck by lightning and collapsed. In 1874, the county magistrate Wang Yaobin and Yu tingxun advocated the repair. Xie xuanhui, the supervisor, donated money to Wu Ji to supervise the repair. Liu Kaibai, the military officer, supervised the construction of the tower. At this time, the tower body increased to nine stories, with a height of 24.5 meters. In 1915, the Wenfeng tower was struck by lightning again. The top of the tower was destroyed, but it had not been repaired. It was old for a long time and was eroded by wind and rain. Many of them were damaged, and they were in danger of collapse day and night. In December 1982, the people's Government of Ninghai County listed Wenfeng pagoda as a key cultural relic protection unit, and in 1983, it allocated more than 10000 yuan for renovation. The repaired Wenfeng tower has the original shape, a new body, and a lightning rod on the top of the tower, so that the ancient tower can survive forever.
