brief introduction

Confucian temple, or Confucius Temple, is located at the north end of Xiaoshi street in Cangzhou City. It is 1105 meters long from north to South and 37.2 meters wide from east to west. It faces south from north and has three courtyards. There is a 7-meter long screen wall in front of the gate, with the ritual Hall in the East and Yilu in the West. To the north of the entrance hall is a single hole stone arch bridge -- Panshui bridge, and to the West there is a province

In the center is the Dacheng hall, the main building of the Confucian temple, 18 meters from east to west, 9 meters from north to south, five doors in the front, 24 columns in the hall, 2 meters out of the eaves, and green glaze on the top. The architecture is magnificent. In order to rest on the top of the mountain, it has five steps, five broad arches, three entrances, eight bright pearls, lattice doors, yellow and green glazed tile roofs, and a hard hilltop Mingzhu hall in the north of the backyard.

The date when the Confucius Temple was first built is beyond examination. In 1993, it was announced as a key cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province by the people's Government of Hebei Province.

After a year of intensive construction, the restoration project of Cangzhou Confucian temple, a provincial cultural relic protection unit in Hebei Province, has made great progress by the end of 2010. The main body and roof of Dacheng hall have been covered; the main body and roof of Jimen, Xiangxian temple, Minghuan temple, east-west wing room of the first courtyard, east-west veranda room of the second courtyard, east-west wing room of the third courtyard, east-west wing room of Minglun hall and power distribution room have been completed The main structure of xingmen, limen and Yilu. During the construction of Confucian temple, there are many important archaeological discoveries.

On March 14, 2010, when excavating the foundation of the West Chamber of the first courtyard, a stone tablet was found at a distance of 1m from the ground. On the front of the tablet, there are 20 lines of regular script, 42 characters in each line. On the forehead of the tablet, there are seal inscriptions of "Xinjian Cangzhou Xiangxian Temple". As for this stele, there are no records in Wanli's Cangzhou annals, Kangxi's Cangzhou annals and Qianlong's Cangzhou annals. It can only be found in Jinshi in Cangxian annals of the Republic of China. However, there are only stele items but no inscriptions. Therefore, this inscription should be the first. According to the inscription, "the earth was made to govern the ugly in March, and the success was achieved in April. In the second year of Zhengde, the first month of Dingmao was auspicious. It can be seen that: Cangzhou Xiangxian Temple started on March 15, 1505, and was completed on April 15. In the first month of the second year of Zhengde (1507), it was established on an auspicious day. The discovery of the stele not only fills in the blank of Cangzhou chronicles, but also provides us with a list of the local sages originally worshipped by the local sages temple, and provides accurate material materials for understanding the increase and decrease of the construction of Cangzhou Confucian temple in Ming Dynasty, which has high historical research value.
