Zhuojiang, also known as Zhuoshui, Zhuopu or longkaihe. It originates from Qingfei mountain in the southwest of Ruichang City, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. It flows eastward through the west of Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, and flows into the Yangtze River through the Fupu estuary in the north.

Jiujiang City is located in the Sui Dynasty, which was called zhuokou City, because there is a Zhujiang River passing through the city in the West. Zhuojiang River, also known as Zhuoshui, originates from qingzhuoshan in Ruichang, where it flows into the Yangtze River, so it is called zhuokou. Later, the city evolved into Xunyang, Jiangzhou and Jiujiang.

In 1996, in order to promote economic development and urban construction and other reasons, feijiang River (Longkai River) was landfilled.

In 2005, Jiujiang municipal government launched the dredging and connecting waterway project of Longkai old road. Most of the dredging and connecting waterway projects are located in Jiujiang Development Zone, with a total length of 3.35 km, a width of about 10-30 m and a water depth of about 1.2 m. After dredging, the new Longkai River connecting waterway starts from the old Longkai road and ends at Gantang lake, with a total length of 1.18 km. The project design mainly embodies the primitive, ecological and natural, and carries forward Jiujiang landscape culture. Qihang garden, Jiujiang water garden, modern city garden, humanistic inscription garden, historical allusion garden, Pipa line garden and local celebrity sculpture garden will be built on both sides of the Strait to show Jiujiang's humanistic history, modern flavor and beautiful future through relief, sculpture and landscape corridor, and become a good place for tourists and citizens to enjoy and relax.
