In 1935, Su Yu and Liu Ying led the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army to march into Zhejiang Province and established a guerrilla base in Southwest Zhejiang with wangcunkou of Suichang as the center, writing a patent chapter of the three-year guerrilla war in southern Zhejiang.
On May 15, 1984, in accordance with Su Yu's will, representatives of the Central Military Commission and Su Yu's children escorted part of Su Yu's ashes to the entrance of Wang Village in Suichang and scattered them on the moonlight mountain. In 1985, Suichang county government opened a park in Yueyue mountain at the entrance of Wang Village and built a memorial Pavilion for Comrade Su Yu, which originated from ye Fei, vice chairman of the National People's Congress, who wrote inscriptions for the monument to Comrade Su Yu.
