Niumaowu town is a town under the jurisdiction of Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County, Dandong City, Liaoning Province. It is located in the north of Kuandian County and adjacent to bahechuan town in the West. It covers an area of 300.7 square kilometers and has a population of 14873 (2017). Jurisdiction niumaowu, zhangjiabu, Quanshan, gaokanzi, tiezizi, wudaolingzi, Xiaochengzi 7 administrative villages, the town government in No. 1 North Street. Niumaowu town is located in the northern mountain area of Kuandian, belonging to the remaining vein of Changbai Mountain, 40 n. 89, 125 E. Niumaowu town has a long history and profound culture. Xiaochengzi Koguryo mountain city, the sister mountain city of wunushan mountain city, a 2400 year old world cultural heritage, is located in niumaowu town.

Niumaowu town is high in Northwest and low in Southeast. Huabo mountain is 1336.1 meters above sea level, known as "the first peak in Liaoning". The town has beautiful scenery. In spring, the mountain flowers are brilliant and beautiful. In midsummer, the green mountains are green and refreshing. In autumn, the mountains are red and the forests are dyed. Niumaowu town has unique production conditions and abundant raw materials for mushroom cultivation. Mushroom production has a history of 30 years. The mushroom is big, thick, delicious and of good quality. It is called "the first mushroom in Liaoning" by Guo Feng, former Secretary of Liaoning provincial Party committee, niumaowu town and "the first mushroom town in Northeast China". The products are exported to more than 14 countries and regions such as the United States, South Korea, Japan and Europe. In November 2009, niumaowu town was awarded the title of "hometown of Liaoning characteristic industries" by Liaoning Provincial Agricultural Commission.

There are many kinds of mineral resources and large reserves in the town. The mineral resources that have been developed and utilized include: boron magnesium iron, lead zinc, iron ore, potassium feldspar; the mineral resources that need to be invested and developed include: graphite, diopside, iron sulfide, tremolite, sepiolite, jade, calcite, marble, talc, etc.

Forest resources are unique. The forest coverage rate is 86.5%, with 370000 mu of forest, 1.45 million cubic meters of timber stock, and 14000 mu of understory ginseng, forest frog, traditional Chinese medicine and wild vegetables.

Historical evolution

The commune was established in 1958, the township was established in 1983, and the town was established in 1995. In 2017, it covers an area of 300.7 square kilometers and has a population of 14873 (2017). It governs 12 village committees, including niumaowu, wudaoling, gaokanzi, dapaozi, Ailin, jiaojiabao, tiezizi, wangjiabao, Xiaochengzi, dahucunzi, Quanshan and Zhangjiabao.
