The predecessor of the Central Meteorological Bureau's Tainan meteorological station is the Tainan weather station. During the Japanese rule period, the Japanese set up general weather stations in Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Hengchun, Penghu, Taitung, Hualien, etc., ocean observation stations in Kaohsiung, and alpine observation stations in Alishan. In addition, the nine lighthouses in Taiwan are also equipped with meteorological observation tasks.
