The ancient pear garden, formerly known as the nursery of Taiping District, was established in 1959 after it was transferred to the Construction Department of Taiping District by the seedling farm under the municipal garden department. At that time, the nursery was mainly planted with economic tree species, with more than 30000 trees and shrubs such as pears, hawthorn and grapes. In July 1989, the municipal government approved Taiping District to transform the nursery into an open park. After five years of construction, it was opened to the public on October 8, 1994 and was named Hongwei park at that time.

Wild pear tree

The park covers an area of 9.9 hectares, with superior ecological conditions and more than 25600 trees of more than 30 species. One of them is a rare tree species in Heilongjiang Province. It is said that it was planted by Zhang zuolin when he was on a tour of the three eastern provinces in 1920. The tree is 117 years old, with a diameter at breast height of 70 cm. It has beautiful shape, luxuriant branches and leaves, covering an area of more than 300 square meters. It looks like a giant green umbrella in the distance, and it looks like a snow mountain wrapped in silver in the spring. In 1994, the tree was appraised by the Municipal Greening Committee as No. 51 ancient and famous tree in our city, which has a high reputation in the city. 2003 is the first year for our city to build an ecological garden city.
