Shimei'an scenic spot

Shimei temple is located at the foot of Laoshan mountain. It is said that in ancient times, it was a barren mountain and there was no plum blossom. Later, ten beautiful women built grass for nunnery and practiced together. Finally, they became immortals and left ten tall plum trees. The blooming plum blossoms were as bright as the morning glow and as white as the snow. Therefore, it was named "Shimei nunnery".

Every March, Qingdao Plum Blossom Festival is held here. All kinds of plum blossoms compete to open up, making it the best place for tourists to enjoy plum blossoms in early spring.

Shimei'an scenic spot

Shimei'an scenic spot is located at the foot of Laoshan Mountain, Licang District of Qingdao city. It is said that in ancient times, it was just a barren mountain without plum blossom. The blooming plum blossoms were as bright as the morning glow and as white as snow. Therefore, the legendary name of "Shimei nunnery" came into being. After years of artificial cultivation and breeding, the largest plum garden in northern China has been built here, covering an area of 200 hectares. There are more than 10000 plum trees, more than 100 varieties, and more than 5000 pots of plum bonsai. In 1999, it was named "the hometown of plum blossom in China" by the Ministry of agriculture.

The plum blossom to the north of the Yangtze River usually blooms in March and April. Qingdao Plum Blossom Festival is held here once a year, becoming the best place for tourists to enjoy plum blossom in early spring.

Shimei'an park is located on the northern slope of Laohushan mountain in Licang District. It is the traffic center of Licang District. It has a very advantageous geographical position. At the same time, it is the continuation of the western mountain range of Laoshan Mountain, a famous scenic spot. It covers a total area of 110 hectares, with the highest elevation of 208.3 meters and the lowest elevation of 39.8 meters. The park is a paradise for the modern city center, with fresh air in winter, cool wind in summer, jagged rocks, overlapping mountains, green pines and cypresses, green mountains and green waters, and fragrant locust flowers. According to folklore, ten plum blossom Fairies in the sky in the past came down here because of their yearning for the beautiful mountains and waters here, hence the name of Shimei nunnery. The scenic spot is a mountain forest park invested by shimei'an village. There are three artificial buildings in the park: the stele corridor of shimei'an in the middle, also known as "Qingdao stele forest"; the bird singing garden in the East; the "Qingdao plum garden" in the west, with more than 400 plum trees introduced. A flower fair is held every spring.

Tourism characteristics

Shimei'an is the largest plum garden in the north of the Yangtze River in China. It is named "the hometown of plum blossom" by the Ministry of agriculture. Its long history is mainly reflected in the unearthed cultural relics. The "ancient city top" in the east of the village is the cultural site of Dongyi people in the Shang and Zhou dynasties. There is also the only surviving memorial archway in the city, the Wang's memorial archway in dazaoyuan, which records the official titles of the three generations of the Wang family in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, the most famous of which is Wang Yi. It is said that he had been a teacher of Emperor Yongzheng and was very strict in teaching.

Plum blossom is not only a kind of flower, but also a kind of culture. Because of its opening in the early spring snow, people regard it as a symbol of pride; because it has five petals, people call it "five blessing flowers". During the Spring Festival, people decorate their houses with plum blossoms. People cut plum blossoms to celebrate happy events. In local women's names, the word "Mei" is everywhere.

Plum blossom appreciation is mainly in Qingdao plum garden in shimei'an scenic area. Surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing water on one side, it covers an area of nearly 800 mu, with more than 20000 plum trees and more than 200 varieties. With the encouragement and support of Licang District government, the construction of Meiyuan is improving day by day. The scientific research project of Qingdao Meiyuan has been selected into the national "863" plan, becoming the first flower scientific research project supported by the national agricultural science and technology special project.

Qingdao Meiyuan has held plum blossom festival for six consecutive times, receiving nearly 200000 tourists every year.

In 1999, China's sixth plum blossom and Chimonanthus praecox exhibition was held here. More than 100 representatives from China, South Korea, Japan and other countries and regions attended the meeting.

Route: take bus No.364 to shimei'an village directly, or take long-distance bus or bus to shimei'an station on Chongqing road. It's two kilometers away from the scenic spot. You can change buses to enjoy the plum blossom.
