With a total length of 78 km, Wilson trail is the second longest hiking trail in Hong Kong. It was officially opened in 1996. Its name is in memory of Sir Wilson, a Hong Kong governor who loves the landscape and hiking activities in Hong Kong.
The 10 section hiking trail runs through eight country parks from south to north, including Tai Tam, Quarry Bay extension, Ma On Shan, lion rock, Jinshan, Shing Mun, Tai Mo Shan and baxianling country parks. Starting from Stanley Gap Road in Tai Tam country park, the trail passes several peaks on Hong Kong Island to Taigu. The third section starts at Yau Tong, crosses devil mountain, Wugui mountain, etc., turns to the west, arrives at Jiulong Qun Shan, starts from Jinshan country park, goes north, arrives at Jiulong Keng mountain, goes East, ascends Baxian ridge, and finally goes down to Nanchong as the terminal point.
In order to increase the challenge of hiking trail, Wilson trail crosses many high mountains in Hong Kong from south to north, and the scenery is magnificent. This hiking trail can not only take you into many of Hong Kong's original undeveloped countryside and enjoy the green mountains and waters, but also allow you to stand on the uninhabited green mountains, watch the prosperity of Hong Kong's city, and see the wonderful scene of Hong Kong's countryside standing side by side with the city and the moving world separated by thick shade.
