Yingwan Garden

Yingwan garden is a unique tropical style building in Hong Kong. It is a luxury house located on the hillside of Repulse Bay on Hong Kong Island.

The building was designed by Hong Kong Guan Wu Huang architect building and won the silver medal of the highest architectural design award in 1989. It is a kind of expressionism design, which is very rare in Hong Kong.

Yingwan garden is reconstructed from qianqianshuiwan hotel. It is built close to the mountain. Its external wall is wavy and curved, connecting four buildings of different heights. It is lined with dazzling pink blue and orange, forming a distinctive tropical style. The hollow shape design of the building makes the appearance of the building full of perspective and creativity.

Yingwan garden was rebuilt from qianqianshuiwan hotel. Repulse Bay Hotel was built in 1920, when there was no road to reach Repulse Bay. When the Repulse Bay Hotel was opened, the governor presided over the opening ceremony. Later, it became a popular place for businessmen, politicians, celebrities and gentlemen. It was also a location for numerous novels and movies. During World War II, Repulse Bay Hotel had become a stronghold and hospital of the British army. The hotel was demolished in the early 1990s and rebuilt into a service residence with high-end shops and Terrace Restaurant. The reason why the Terrace Restaurant is famous is that it is the place where the hero and heroine meet for the first time in Eileen Chang's novel love in a fallen city.

The exhibits of the museum are distributed in many different places in yingwan Garden Shopping Mall. Visitors can relive the prosperous scene of Repulse Bay Hotel through precious photos and artworks.

A large number of memorable items, photos and works of art are collected in the museum to make our young generation more aware of the early social and cultural characteristics of Hong Kong. The museum is open every day and admission is free.
