Historical development

In 1918, the owner's family declined and sold the garden to the Yasukuni army. The garden was once renamed "Yasukuni Park". The headquarters of the Yasukuni army is located in Sanyuan County, but the scenery of the park is charming. Yu Youren, commander-in-chief of the Yasukuni army, often comes here to plan strategies and formulate general plans. In 1930, General Yang Hucheng presided over the administration of Shaanxi Province. In order to maintain the garden, he allocated special funds to repair and build the Qianmen building and Houxi building.

Most of the buildings in Li Jing's former residence were built in Song Dynasty and Ming and Qing Dynasty, which were restored many times later. However, some rare tree species are eye opening, such as wisteria, Tamarix, Taxus, juniper and so on, which add a lot of color to this ancient garden.

Li Jing

Li Jing (571-649) was a military strategist in the early Tang Dynasty. In the last years of emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty, Li Jing became the Prime Minister of Mayi county. In 617 ad, Li Yuan's father and son fought against the Sui Dynasty. Li Jing was captured in Chang'an. Li Yuan wanted to kill him, but he was spared death by Li Shimin's intercession. So he followed Li Shimin and was granted the title of Kaifu under the neutrality of Wang Shichong's war.
