The ancestral hall of Zhang Zhongjing is located in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hunan College of traditional Chinese medicine. The former "Zhang Zhongjing Temple" and "Baojie hall" no longer exist. Zhang Zhongjing, Mingji, was born in Nanyang, Henan Province. He is a famous medical scientist in Han Dynasty, known as "medical sage" in history. It is said that when Emperor Ling of the Eastern Han Dynasty came to Changsha, he once worked in zhangbozu of the same county, and later became a famous doctor. There are more than 200 people in his clan. In less than 10 years of Jian'an reign of Emperor Xian of Han Dynasty, two thirds of them died, and most of them died of typhoid. Wang can's poem of seven Sorrows: "go out without seeing, white bones cover the plain" describes the scene of a tragic death. Zhang Zhongjing sympathized with the sufferings of the people, determined to "diligently seek the ancient precepts, and extensively collect all kinds of Prescriptions", and wrote treatise on Febrile Diseases and miscellaneous diseases in 16 volumes. In addition to the theory of disease, there are 397 methods of treatment, 120 prescriptions in the book. It summarizes the folk medical experience before the Han Dynasty and makes a great contribution to the development of Chinese medicine. The treatise on Febrile Diseases and synopsis of the golden chamber are both his original works. Hua Tuo, a famous doctor in the Three Kingdoms period, praised Zhang Zhongjing's book very much. Zhang Zhongjing temple was rebuilt in the second year of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty. In the Republic of China, Yuying primary school was also set up here, which was destroyed during the Anti Japanese war. In the seventh year of Jian'an (202 AD), Zhang Zhongjing was appointed as the prefect of Changsha, and treatise on febrile diseases was completed in Changsha. Zhang had been in charge of many years, when the epidemic was prevalent. On the first and 15th of every month, Zhang did not do official business. Outside the prefect's Yamen, he labeled his name as "doctor sitting in the hall". He gave prescriptions for the poor and humble, and widely used the Decoction without receiving any money.
In 1743, the "Zhang Zhongjing Temple" was built. Today, there are still carved stone tablets in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hunan traditional Chinese medicine, caie North Road, Changsha.
