Development history

Linhai is the birthplace of Materia Medica in Zhejiang Province. Local medicinal materials have a history of at least 1500 years. Ancient Taizhou people used local Chinese herbal medicines to regulate, decoct and treat various diseases.

During the reign of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty, two brothers, Fang Qingcai and Fang Qinglu, from Cibei Minghe Decoction (now Cixi City), came to Zhang'an and Jiazhi of our county to initiate the Chinese medicine industry, which was the pioneer of Taizhou national medicine industry. Fang Qinglu, the founder of "Fang Yiren", opened "suishengyuan" drug store and "Fang Yiren" drug store in Linhai Chengguan in 1821 and 1829. Fang Qinglu devoted all his life to the development of traditional Chinese medicine in Linhai and Taizhou. When he was nearly 80 years old, he also opened the "Fang Tongren" brand in Taiping Street (now Wenling county) in 1861.

Ziyang Street has always been the main street of Taizhou government and the longest and most prosperous business street in the ancient city. In modern times, the center of the commercial market was in Baita bridge and the street, where the famous "Fang Yiren" traditional Chinese medicine shop in Taizhou's history flourished.
