Tongling Grand Canyon

Tongling Grand Canyon is located in Xinling village, Hurun Town, 32 kilometers southeast of Jingxi County, and the south end of Gulong mountain water source forest nature reserve. It is composed of nianba gorge, tonglingxia gorge, Gulao gorge, Xinling gorge and Xinqiao gorge, with a total length of more than 10 kilometers. The nianba river meanders down from the gulong mountains and flows into the Hurun platform through five canyons in turn. In each Canyon, there are rare natural and cultural landscapes, such as super high waterfall group, waterfall in cave, underground river, canyon stream, cave wonder, ancient stone mound, ancient hanging burial, primitive vegetation, etc.

Tongling Grand Canyon

Tongling Grand Canyon national AAAA scenic spot is located in Jingxi County, Baise City, Guangxi Province. It is located in the south of Tropic of cancer, the southern edge of Yunnan Guizhou Plateau, and 230 kilometers away from Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Province. It is a subtropical area.

Tongling Grand Canyon is 3.8 km long, connected by Tongling gorge, nianba gorge, underground river and tunnel. It's natural and elegant. The gorge has steep cliffs, deep and secluded, huge stalactite cliffs hanging upside down, ancient trees and old vines blocking the sky, and mysterious caves and deep pools scattered all over the place. Water curtain cave, underground river and many kinds of waterfalls are full of green water. Tongling Grand Canyon used to be a blind valley. Due to the influence of crustal movement, the sky and the earth move together, forming a big Tiankeng with steep cliffs and spectacular momentum. The deep canyon, the clear stream, the green vegetation and the 188.6-meter psychic waterfall complement each other, making the whole Canyon full of vitality and spirituality.

Development history

Tongling gorge, developed by Ling Shuming, Huang Fengzheng, Qin Hailong and Zeng Dequan of Jingxi chamber of Commerce in April 1998, is located at the south end of the Grand Canyon. It is a rectangular and fully enclosed gorge, about 1000 meters long, 200 meters wide and 300 meters deep, just like a crack in the earth, which is narrow and deep.

The gorge is densely covered with ancient trees, the sharp cliffs around it, and the dancing trees on the side.

The valley is green, the stream is murmuring, and the whole valley is filled with refreshing aura.

More than 2000 kinds of plants are gathered here, many of which belong to the national key protected rare plants.

Some rare plants, such as Alsophila spinulosa, lotus seed fern of Guanyin, Corbicula fluminea, runnan, yanlang tree and firework tree, appeared in the Jurassic period 180 million years ago and grew with dinosaurs at the same time.

Professor Wang Yinzheng and Professor Zhang Xianchun, researchers of Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, made an authoritative evaluation after their investigation: "except Xishuangbanna, this is the place with the most plant species.".

According to the geographer's research, the canyon was originally a blind valley. Due to the influence of geological movement, the top of the Blind Valley collapsed, forming a big skylight. The unique arch shape of the Blind Valley is still preserved on the cliffs on both sides of the canyon, and stalactites with different poses are suspended in the air on the arch cliff.

Cultural legend

There is a little-known secret hidden in the mouth of Tongling Grand Canyon. These stone walls are relics left by the ancients. Behind the stone walls is a 60 meter deep hole. According to folk reputation, this is a Yingpan of Nong Zhigao, the leader of the Zhuang Nationality in the Northern Song Dynasty. The hole in the Yingpan is called ZANGJIN cave.

It is said that after being defeated by Di Qing in Kunlun Pass, Nong Zhigao retreated back with countless gold and silver treasures. Among them, he hid 18 loads of gold in this cave, so it is called the gold hiding cave.

Since ancient times, there has been a folk song among the people in the nearby area: "mountain to mountain, rock to rock, find the gold cave, Guangdong and Guangxi will never forget." many gold explorers came here, but they failed to find the cave because of the dense forest.

There is also a huge broken stone lying here, weighing several thousand jin. It is said that Nong Zhigao was defeated here, but he was unwilling to sink. He practiced in panying every day in order to make a comeback. After three years of hard training, three years of study and three years of preparation, his kung Fu reached the level of perfection. In order to identify his kung fu, he needed to find a physical demonstration, but he couldn't find a suitable demonstration in the deep mountains Object.

One day, when he saw the round and strong stone pillar beside the cave, he was on a whim.

Isn't that a good demo object? Standing beside the stone pillar, he used his power to strike the stone with a slap. He saw only flying sand and moving stones, and the sound was like thunder. The stone pillar more than 4 meters high was struck into two sections by him with one slap. It was across the cave, and the broken stone became a landscape of the channeling canyon.

Characteristic landscape

The path into the canyon passes under the sun blocking old vine trees and falls, like a green tunnel leading to the center of the earth. About 300 meters down, there is an ancient stone barricade. Facing a cliff, there is a hole.

After entering the cave, it turned out to be a spacious cave 100 meters high and 60 meters wide.

The water flow is murmuring at the bottom of the cave. The top of the cave is a line of sky. The wall and top of the cave are covered with various kinds of stalactites with strange shapes. From the Z-shaped ladder down to the bottom of the cave, there is a primeval forest that blocks the sky and the sun.

Walking through a long section of "withered vines, old trees, small bridges and flowing water", you can see Tongling super high waterfall, 168 meters high and 30 meters wide, which is the highest waterfall in Southwest China.

The towering waterfall is like a huge white horse flying straight down, making a thunder like sound, scattering white fog all over the sky, shining with sunlight, showing a beautiful rainbow.

The cliff on the left side of the waterfall is an ancient burial place. The deep pool about 50 meters wide at the fall of the waterfall gathers the canyon streams and the cave River, forming a huge underground river, which flows to another Canyon to become a new waterfall.

There are four huge caves at the entrance of the underground river. The caves are deep and curved. When you climb up the cliff ladder about 30 meters high, an undercurrent in the cave comes face to face and goes down the cliff, forming a multi-layer waterfall, clear and transparent.

Zhuang house

Ancient hanging cave burial

One of the unique landscapes of Tongling Grand Canyon is "ancient hanging cave burial". "Ancient hanging cave burial" is also known as cliff burial, that is, looking for caves on cliffs and placing coffins in them.

According to historical records, ancient Yue people had the custom of cliff burial. This kind of custom should be regarded as the joint reaction of the nest custom: the living people live in the dry fence to avoid malaria, and the dead people hang coffins, which is expected to prolong their life.

However, there are still traces of this kind of strange burial style in the Tongling Grand Canyon, which makes people look up and marvel.

Nianbaxia

Nianba Gorge Scenic Area is connected with Tongling gorge. After viewing the Tongling waterfall with a single drop of 188 meters, visitors can pass through nianba cave to enjoy the beautiful scenery of nianba gorge.

These landscapes include nianba cave, stalactite spectacle, nianba gorge idyllic scenery, etc.

It is worth mentioning that the stalactites in the cave are of various shapes, with "God of wealth sending treasure" and "son sending Avalokitesvara" and other wonders; while nianba gorge is idyllic, beautiful in spring, summer, autumn and winter, and unique in Zhuang folk houses.

Great Falls

Tongling waterfall is 188.6 meters high and 30 meters wide. You can see the Detian waterfall about 10 kilometers south.

Tongling waterfall is different from other waterfalls. It is located at the edge of a crevasse. The stream falls down to the top of the crevasse, forming a 130 meter long chain. In summer, the water splashes hundreds of meters away, making it difficult for visitors to get close to it. In winter and spring, when they walk under the waterfall, they find that the waterfall flies down in the air and runs away. It's amazing.

Continue to walk more than 600 steps to see the waterfall in the psychic canyon. You can also see the strange vegetation, streams and caves in the canyon, which is called "psychic spectacle" by experts.

It is reported that when Beijing built Mao Memorial Hall in the year, experts also deliberately chose 4 rare plants such as flame tree and Wutong tree in the Tongling gorge, and transported them to Beijing from all over the country.
