China Tiger Garden

Located at the junction of Shanghang, Longyan and Liancheng counties in Fujian Province, Meihuashan Nature Reserve China Tiger Garden covers an area of 22169 hectares. It was established with the approval of Fujian Provincial People's Government in 1985 and promoted to the national level in 1988. The main protected objects are forest ecosystems and rare animals.

In 1998, with the strong support of Longyan municipal Party committee and people's government, Meihuashan Nature Reserve took the lead in launching the project of rescuing South China tigers nationwide. Six South China tigers were transferred from Suzhou and Guilin to carry out wild breeding of South China tigers. At the same time, more than 14 million yuan has been invested to build a "Chinese Tiger Garden" covering an area of nearly 7000 mu in Chapan cave, Mafang village, Buyun Township, Shanghang County.
