Dalian Institute of science and technology is located in the romantic city of Bincheng Dalian. It was founded in July 2002 as the school of information engineering of Dalian Jiaotong University. In April 2011, with the approval of the Ministry of education, it was transformed into an independent provincial undergraduate university.

The campus is located in the University City of Dalian Lushun Economic Development Zone, the southernmost tip of Liaodong Peninsula. The campus is located on the extension of the northern foot of the old fellow train in the National Nature Reserve. It looks around the two seas of the Bohai Sea and stands east of the world peace park, adjacent to the intersection of Shenhai Expressway and Yantai train ferry.

The campus covers an area of about 366000 square meters, with a building area of 217000 square meters. The existing teaching and administrative room covers an area of about 141000 square meters, with a teaching equipment value of 46.337 million yuan and a collection of 640000 books. There are 50 laboratories and 49 off campus training bases. The campus network has a backbone of Gigabit, 100m to the desktop, and more than 3500 information points covering all classrooms, laboratories, offices and dormitories.

The college consists of 10 teaching units, including Department of mechanical engineering, Department of electrical engineering, Department of information science, Department of management engineering, Department of foreign languages, Department of art, School of international cooperation and exchange, Department of transportation engineering, Department of foundation, College of software technology (junior college). It has 34 undergraduate majors (directions) and 8 higher vocational (junior college) majors, involving five university disciplines, including engineering, management, arts, law and art Category.

The college has a teaching team with distinguished professors as the banner, discipline leaders with strong academic influence as the backbone, and young and middle-aged academic backbone as the main body. The college implements an open school running mode, and has established long-term inter school cooperation with more than ten famous colleges at home and abroad.
