Qujing Normal University is a public undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of education in March 2000. It was officially established on October 27, 2000.

The college covers an area of 1822 mu, with a building area of 211000 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is 278.36 million yuan, including 23.03 million yuan of teaching equipment, 3800 yuan of teaching equipment per student, 550000 books and a campus information network.

At present, the college has 565 teaching staff, including 385 full-time teachers. Among the teachers, there are 18 professors, 105 associate professors, 6 senior lecturers and 134 lecturers, 11 with doctor's degree and 63 with master's degree.

The college has 6267 full-time students, 2848 adult education students and more than 14000 TVU education students. The college plans to have 10000 full-time students by 2010 and 12000 full-time students by 2015. In 2004, full-time majors enrolled in 18 provinces, and in 2005, they enrolled in 22 provinces.

The college has 15 departments (departments) including Chinese, economic and political law, history and public administration, foreign languages, mathematics, physics, chemistry and Life Sciences, computer science, primary education, music and dance, sports, fine arts, Marxist Leninist Theory Teaching Department, university foreign language teaching department and educational psychology teaching and research section.

The existing disciplines include economics, law, education, literature, history, science and engineering.

There are 23 full-time undergraduate majors in Chinese language and literature, advertising, ideological and political education, financial accounting education, history, English, mathematics and applied mathematics, physics, educational technology, chemistry, applied chemistry, biological science, computer science and technology, primary school education, preschool education, musicology, physical education, social sports, fine arts, etc.

Full time higher vocational education has two majors: Arts and crafts and dance performance.

There are more than 30 specialties in adult education, such as economic management, computer application, computerized accounting, Chinese language and literature, mathematics and applied mathematics, finance, accounting, horticulture, business administration and primary education.

"Literature and art" is an alternative subject for provincial key construction, and "literature and art", "regional economics", "Physical Chemistry" and "condensed matter physics" are the key construction subjects of our college. The Institute of economic development in the upper reaches of the Pearl River, the research center of basic education development in Northeast Yunnan, the Research Institute of computational chemistry and theory, and the Research Institute of literature and art were established.

More than 3600 papers, 16 monographs and teaching materials have been published, among which 21 have been searched by SCI, 27 by CI and 37 by domestic core journals. Our college and Beijing Normal University jointly obtained one National Natural Science Foundation project, four provincial social science projects, 28 Provincial Education Department projects and 148 university level scientific research projects. The National College Students' scientific and technological innovation activities won the first prize at the provincial level, and the other two won national awards. According to the report on the competitiveness of science and technology innovation of Chinese universities published by China Science Evaluation and Research Center in July 2004, the overall ranking of the competitiveness of science and technology innovation of our college is 307 out of 619 universities in China, and the overall ranking of the competitiveness of Humanities and social sciences research is 326 out of 570 universities in China.

Qujing municipal Party committee and government formulated the grand blueprint of "building a big city in the source of the Pearl River", "taking the lead in realizing industrialization in the whole province" and "building a well-off society in an all-round way", and put forward that efforts should be made to expand the development and innovation industries of tobacco, energy, chemical industry, mining and metallurgy, machinery and automobile, and biological resources. Our college will closely combine the needs of Qujing's economic and cultural construction, vigorously expand new majors, strive to improve the quality of personnel training, and make new contributions to Qujing's basic education, the development of high school education and local economic construction.
