Jilin Institute of agricultural science and technology is a provincial public full-time undergraduate college which mainly cultivates applied talents. The college is divided into two campuses: the south campus is located in Jilin economic and Technological Development Zone, and the north campus is located in Zuojia Nature Reserve of Jilin Province.

At present, the university has 15 Teaching Colleges (departments) including College of animal science, College of animal medicine, College of food engineering, College of plant science, College of traditional Chinese medicine, College of bioengineering, College of economic management, College of information engineering, College of mechanical engineering, College of architectural engineering, College of Arts and Sciences, College of foreign languages, College of higher vocational technology, College of social science and sports. At present, there are 30 undergraduate majors and 29 junior college majors, with 10706 students in agriculture, science, engineering, economics, management, literature and education, including 23 international students.

At present, the school has formed a teaching staff with reasonable structure, rich teaching experience and profound academic attainments. At present, there are 480 full-time teachers, 209 professors and associate professors, of which 276 have doctoral (Master) degrees. There are 114 national examiners of vocational skill appraisal, 242 double qualified teachers, and 10 of them have won the title of national and provincial excellent teachers. The college covers an area of 3.28 million square meters, with a building area of 321400 square meters. The layout is reasonable and the environment is beautiful. At present, the total value of fixed assets is 239.9 million yuan, including 42.85 million yuan of teaching and scientific research equipment, equipped with modern basic laboratory and professional laboratory, educational technology center, campus network and other modern educational facilities. The library has a building area of 34000 square meters and a collection of 651000 books. The college has 28 stable practice and training bases and one of the largest wildlife herbarium in Northeast China.

The college aims at cultivating students' comprehensive ability, takes personnel training as the foundation, and pays attention to the cultivation of students' practical ability, innovation ability and entrepreneurial ability. Under the premise of gradually improving the quality of teaching, we should strengthen the employment guidance and service for graduates. The employment rate of fresh graduates has increased year by year, and the average employment rate in the past three years has reached more than 90%. At present, the college has signed employment agreements with more than 100 enterprises inside and outside the province, and the employment rate of graduates has reached the forefront of similar universities in the country.

The college has actively carried out international educational exchanges and cooperation.
