Gansu Agricultural University

Gansu Agricultural University is an excellent undergraduate teaching evaluation School of the Ministry of education and a University jointly built by the Ministry of agriculture and Gansu provincial government. Its predecessor is the National Veterinary College, which was founded in Lanzhou in October 1946. Mr. Sheng Tongsheng, a famous veterinarian, veterinary educator, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and one of the founders of modern veterinary science, served as the first president of Gansu Agricultural University. In 1950, it was renamed northwest Veterinary College; in 1951, it was renamed northwest animal husbandry and Veterinary College; in 1958, it merged with Gansu Agricultural College to establish Gansu Agricultural University.

The school is located in Anning District of Lanzhou City, covering an area of 701200 square meters and a construction area of 502100 square meters. At present, there are 17 Colleges (teaching departments), 53 undergraduate specialties, 5 national characteristic specialty construction sites, such as animal medicine; 1 national key discipline (Prataculture Science), 1 key discipline of the Ministry of agriculture and 13 provincial key disciplines; 4 post doctoral research mobile stations, 6 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization sites, 23 doctoral degree authorization sites; 14 first-class discipline master degree authorization sites There are 77 master's degree authorization points, 1 national key laboratory training base, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 3 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 16 provincial key laboratories (engineering centers) jointly built by the Ministry and the province.

The school has more than 1500 teaching staff, more than 1000 full-time teachers, including 485 people with senior professional titles; 2 members of the discipline evaluation group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, 4 people selected as the first and second level candidates of the national "100 million talents project", 2 people selected as the "new century excellent talents support plan" of the Ministry of education, 1 person selected as the "national agricultural science and technology promotion model" of the Ministry of agriculture, and 3 members selected as the expert guidance group of the Ministry of agriculture There are 1 "science and technology hero of Gansu Province" and 1 "top ten proud sons of Gansu people", 4 specially employed science and technology experts of Gansu Province, 30 leading talents of Gansu Province, 74 tribute experts, special paste experts and famous teaching teachers.

The University began to recruit postgraduates in 1953. It is the first batch of bachelor's and master's degree awarding units and the second batch of doctor's degree awarding units in China's universities. At present, there are more than 16000 undergraduate students and more than 2000 doctoral and postgraduate students. So far, more than 100000 senior professionals have been trained for the country, and a large number of outstanding alumni have emerged, including Yang Ziheng, the first Chinese academician of the Royal Academy of Sciences, Shang Yongfeng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Nan Zhibiao, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering.

Since the 11th five year plan, the university has undertaken more than 2000 scientific research projects, with a total funding of 374 million yuan. 195 research achievements have won awards, including 84 provincial and ministerial awards and 145 authorized patents. 193 monographs have been published, and more than 6100 papers have been published in academic journals at home and abroad, including more than 210 papers in SCI and EI. At present, the university has undertaken more than 610 projects such as the national "863" and "973" plans, the national science and technology support plan, and the national natural (SOCIAL) science foundation. It has made a number of significant research achievements in the fields of pratacultural science, animal and plant breeding, dry farming, facility agriculture, circular agriculture, water-saving agriculture, animal health breeding, biotechnology, and agricultural product processing, etc., serving the University“ "Agriculture, rural areas and farmers" and regional economic and social development have made important contributions.

The University attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation, and maintains academic exchange relations with more than 20 universities and scientific research institutions in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, Egypt and other countries. Scholars from both sides visit each other, carry out scientific research cooperation and send teachers to study and stay in school. In addition, the University cooperates with the United States and other countries to establish the Sino US research center for sustainable development of grassland animal husbandry ”。 The implementation of "Sino US 1 + 2 + 1 talent training program" and other cooperative education projects enables our students to make full use of high-quality international education resources, enrich their experience and increase their talents.
