Northern University for Nationalities

Northern University for Nationalities (formerly northwest second college for nationalities, college Code: 11407) is the only comprehensive university for Nationalities under the Ministry of the autonomous region of ethnic minorities in China, directly under the State Commission for ethnic affairs, located in Yinchuan City, the capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, known as "the frontier and the south of the Yangtze River". Founded in 1984, the University was officially renamed as Northern University for Nationalities on the basis of the former northwest Second University for Nationalities approved by the Ministry of education in January 2008.

The school now covers an area of 1150 mu, with an area of 300000 square meters. There are 924 teaching staff, including 654 full-time teachers. At present, it has enrolled students from 31 provinces (cities, districts) in China. As of December 2007, there are more than 10000 full-time students. With excellent school running conditions, complete teaching facilities and elegant campus environment, it has been rated as the "national 400 best department greening" unit by the national Greening Committee and "garden type unit" by Yinchuan Municipal People's government.

The University focuses on the construction of advantageous disciplines and the construction of core competitiveness. At present, there are 45 undergraduate majors covering seven disciplines of literature, history, law, science, engineering, economics and management; 10 master's degree programs covering five disciplines of literature, history, science, engineering and law; two key disciplines of the National People's Commission of the people's Republic of China, including information engineering, information and computing science; Chinese ethnic minority history, computational mathematics, linguistics and applied linguistics There are four key disciplines of computer application technology in the autonomous region.

The University was awarded "excellent" in the 2007 undergraduate teaching evaluation organized by the Ministry of education. With the continuous improvement of school running level and teaching quality, the number of students is sufficient, and the quality of students is improving steadily. In recent three years, the year-end employment rate of undergraduate graduates is higher than the national average, ranking in the forefront of Ningxia universities.
