Xian Medical College

Xi'an Medical College is a full-time regular undergraduate college sponsored by Shaanxi Provincial People's government. Its predecessor is Shaanxi health school founded in 1951. In 1959, the provincial government established Shaanxi health cadre college. In 1994, the State Education Commission approved the establishment of Shaanxi medical college. Approved by the Ministry of education in February 2006, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed Xi'an Medical College.

The school is composed of Hanguang campus, Weiyang campus and high tech campus, with a total area of 760000 m2, a total construction area of 1013600 m2, and a total fixed assets value of 1.106 billion yuan, including 134 million yuan of teaching and scientific research equipment. The library has a collection of 1212400 paper books and 4101200 e-books.

The school has built a relatively complete practice (Internship) teaching base, with 5 directly affiliated hospitals (Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital), the First Affiliated Hospital, the Second Affiliated Hospital, the affiliated Baoji hospital and the affiliated Hanjiang hospital, with a total bed of nearly 6000, 19 non directly affiliated hospitals and 65 internship bases. Among them, the Affiliated Hospital (Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital) and the First Affiliated Hospital are large-scale comprehensive third class A hospitals organized by Shaanxi Provincial People's government, and are the national training base for general practitioners. Shaanxi Provincial People's hospital is also the construction unit of Shaanxi Provincial Institute of clinical medicine, national drug clinical trial institution and national health emergency medical rescue team.

The school has 14 teaching units including clinical medical college, nursing college and pharmacy college. There are graduate education, general undergraduate education and continuing education. Clinical medicine has the right to confer master's degree in the first level disciplines. At present, there are 16 master's degree conferring centers in the second level disciplines, such as general medicine, internal medicine, surgery and ophthalmology. The general undergraduate education has 14 undergraduate programs, including clinical medicine, nursing, pharmacy, preventive medicine and stomatology. At present, there are 3 provincial key majors (characteristic majors) and 3 provincial "pilot project of comprehensive reform of majors".

At present, there are 750 full-time teachers, 428 of whom have the title of deputy high or above, accounting for 57.1% of the total number of full-time teachers, and 492 of whom have graduate education, accounting for 65.6% of the total number of full-time teachers. It has established cooperation and exchange relations with Weber State University of the United States, Kyung Hee University of South Korea, CBM University of Italy and Lund University of Sweden, laying a foundation for further strengthening foreign exchanges and cooperation.
