Liaoning Institute of Technology

Liaoning Institute of technology, formerly known as the College of Arts and science of Bohai University, was founded in September 1999. In December 2003, it was confirmed as an independent college by the Ministry of education. In May 2014, it was approved by the Ministry of education to be established as a private ordinary undergraduate school - Liaoning Institute of technology.

The college is located in Jinzhou, Liaoning Province, on the coast of the Bohai Sea with convenient transportation and beautiful scenery. It is connected with the campus of Bohai University in the north, covering an area of 1036 mu, with a building area of 203000 square meters. The campus has beautiful scenery, elegant appearance, advanced teaching equipment, spacious and bright classrooms and complete living facilities.

At present, the college has 5509 full-time students, 534 full-time and part-time teachers, including 328 with doctor's and master's degrees, 245 with professional and technical positions of professor and associate professor, and employs many foreign teachers to teach.

The college has seven disciplines including engineering, economics, management, literature, law, education and art. At present, there are 28 undergraduate majors and 13 junior college majors. The undergraduate majors are: Computer Science and technology, information management and information system, network engineering, landscape architecture, logistics engineering, e-commerce, business administration, accounting, financial management, tourism management, public utilities management, marketing, logistics management, international economy and trade, Chinese language and literature, radio and television Journalism, advertising, English, Japanese, law, social sports guidance and management, sports training, musicology, fine arts, visual communication design, environmental design, animation and other undergraduate majors. Specialty: mechanical manufacturing and automation, automobile detection and maintenance technology, power supply technology, welding technology and automation, computer network technology, accounting, accounting computerization, tourism management, environmental art design, film and television multimedia technology, social sports, logistics management, business English.

The college fully implements the party's education policy, aims to cultivate high-quality and applicable talents needed by the national economic and social development, adheres to the student-oriented education concept, constantly innovates the education and teaching management system, improves the teaching quality monitoring and guarantee system, deepens the education and teaching reform, and improves the quality of talent training. We should actively explore the talent training mode of "independent learning and diversified development", implement the "three-point" teaching method, carry out "professional major ability training", teach students in accordance with their aptitude and separate training, and create multiple platforms for students' personality development. The postgraduate entrance examination rate of fresh graduates has increased year by year, reaching 20.5% in 2014, ranking first among similar colleges in the province. In order to meet the students' desire to enjoy high-quality educational resources and study abroad, the college has established joint learning relationship with Peking University, Jilin University, Fudan University and other domestic famous universities. Some excellent students after junior year can voluntarily study in famous universities for 1-2 years. With the United States, the United Kingdom and more than 30 foreign schools to establish a cooperative training relationship, to achieve mutual recognition of credits between the two schools. Students can choose the right training direction according to their own actual situation and wishes; in order to improve students' practical ability and employment competitiveness, and constantly strengthen the practice teaching link, the college has established more than 120 solid practice bases and employment guidance stations in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Shenyang and other large and medium-sized cities as the training ground for students before employment, and the employment rate of graduates has remained stable for many years More than 90% of the graduates have been employed by the central and provincial authorities, colleges and universities, radio stations, television stations and other units, and most of them have become the backbone of the units. The college has implemented the construction of excellent teaching projects, built one provincial teaching team, two provincial excellent courses, won seven provincial excellent teaching achievement awards and 12 provincial teaching reform projects.  

The college adheres to the idea of "taking teaching as the center and promoting teaching by scientific research" to strengthen scientific research. In recent years, the faculty has successively presided over 84 scientific research projects at or above the municipal level, published 28 teaching materials and academic works, published 441 academic papers, and won 28 scientific research awards at or above the municipal level.

While adhering to the education of socialist core values, the college promotes the cultivation of students' good quality and perfect personality through daily management and "knowledge and behavior evaluation". Through the rich and colorful campus cultural activities to guide students to do gratitude, helping others, supporting the weak filial piety, self-improvement. More than 50 associations have become a stage for students to show their talents, give full play to their specialties and train their abilities. Quite a number of students have won awards in various national, provincial and municipal competitions.

Since its establishment, the cause of the college has made great progress. In 2002, it ranked first in the education and teaching quality evaluation of similar colleges and universities in Liaoning Province; in 2008 and 2009, it was rated as the "advanced collective of employment work of ordinary colleges and universities in Liaoning Province"; in September 2009, it was rated as the "advanced collective of education system in Liaoning Province".

Taking the successful transition as an opportunity, the college has formulated a ten-year plan for its future development, and will make greater efforts to adjust the layout and structure of disciplines and majors, so as to realize the coordinated development of economics, management, arts, law and other disciplines with engineering as the main task. The college will further deepen the reform, open up and innovate, run the people's satisfactory higher education well, and strive for the all-round development in the new era.
