Introduction to Cham (lacanga Cham)

Applicant: Luozha County, Tibet Autonomous Region

Gaqiangmu is a Tibetan Buddhist Gaju group Qiangmu performed by laymen (people) in LAKANG Town, luoza County, Shannan Prefecture, Tibet.

Lakanggaqiang is a folk song and dance with unique artistic style and strong regional characteristics. It is the product of Tibetan folk culture and religious culture, and also an important part of the intangible cultural heritage of the Chinese nation.

Every year on December 15 of the Tibetan calendar, when the traditional border trade exchange meeting is held in LAKANG Town, luoza County, lakanggaqiang becomes the first program of the border trade meeting, and is also one of the folk art programs loved by the local people and foreign businessmen. The performance of Lacan gacham means the prelude of Lacan border trade exchange meeting. After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the unique folk song and dance has been inherited and developed again with the concern and attention of the party and the government.
