Guangzhou health vocational and Technical College (formerly Guangzhou Medical University) is the only public health higher vocational college in Guangzhou approved by the Ministry of education. Its history can be traced back to 1902. The college covers an area of about 638.6 mu, with a building area of about 115000 square meters. It is divided into four campuses: Baiyun, Conghua, Tianhe and Yuexiu. In the long-term process of running the school, the college has trained tens of thousands of high-quality health technical talents for the society, and has made important contributions to various medical institutions at all levels.

At present, there are about 3500 full-time students in the college, with 10 specialties including nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, medical laboratory technology, rehabilitation treatment technology, geriatric service and management, medical imaging technology, clinical medicine, Stomatology, acupuncture and massage, among which nursing specialty is a model construction specialty in Guangdong Province, and geriatric service and management specialty is a characteristic construction specialty in Higher Vocational Colleges in Guangdong Province; Medical imaging technology and clinical medicine are the demonstration specialties in Guangzhou, while pharmacy, medical laboratory technology and stomatology are the demonstration construction specialties in Guangzhou. In terms of curriculum construction, the course of "basic nursing" was rated as the top-quality course in Colleges and universities in Guangzhou, and the course of "normal human body structure" was approved as the top-quality course in Guangzhou.

The college is a training or appraisal institution for Guangzhou professional and technical personnel continuing education base, national vocational skill appraisal institute, national vocational qualification professional skill appraisal base for special types of work in traditional Chinese medicine industry, international nurse practice level examination (ISPN) examination center and so on. The annual appraisal training amount reaches 4500 person times, providing due services for local economic and social development.

Among the full-time teachers, 60% have a master's degree or above, 45% have a deputy senior professional title or above, and 37% have "double qualification" teachers.

The college has eight training (experimental) centers, including nursing, clinical medicine, pharmacy, medical laboratory technology, Stomatology, medical technology, basic medicine and public foundation. The nursing skills training center is the training base of Higher Vocational Education in Guangdong Province and the training base of Higher Vocational Education in Guangzhou. Students have a high level of skills, and they have won many excellent results in various competitions at all levels, such as national, provincial and municipal levels. The passing rate of all kinds of licensing examinations and the employment rate of graduates are in the forefront of similar colleges and universities.

In order to meet the needs of society and industry, the college attaches great importance to foreign exchange and cooperation, and has built a platform for overseas internship and employment for students. At present, some students have realized internship and employment in overseas medical institutions.
