Chaiwopu Salt Lake

Chaiwopu Salt Lake is an important place for salt production in Xinjiang. There is a wide salt flat around the lake, showing a solid melting appearance. Countless animal skeletons and scraps of junk will take you to another world. When the sun sets, it will shine in the dark background, especially dazzling.

The Great Salt Lake is also close to a fresh water lake, only 5km away from each other. But surprisingly, the bottoms of the two lakes are interlinked, and the topography of the salt lake is higher than that of the freshwater lake. However, the two lakes show very different characteristics.

On the East Bank of the Great Salt Lake, next to the highway, there is a remnant site of beacon flint of the Han and Tang Dynasties. You can go and have a look.

Traffic information: the salt lake is just beside the highway from Turpan to Urumqi. You can get off and walk on the way;

You can also rent a car from Dabancheng, Urumqi and other places, but it is not necessary to rent a car;

The Great Salt Lake is only about 40km away from Urumqi. It's good to ride a bicycle from the urban area. The road condition is very good, and along the way, there will be a spectacular landscape extending from Tianshan Mountains to the plain.
