Yili vocational and technical college is a full-time public institution of higher learning approved by the Ministry of education and the people's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is located in Yining City, the capital of Yili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture, known as "the south of the Great Wall".

Founded in March 2002, the college is a combination of Xinjiang Yili animal husbandry and veterinary school, Yili agricultural school and Yili agricultural and animal husbandry mechanization school, which have a history of more than 50 years. The college covers an area of more than 1300 mu, with a building area of 100000 square meters and a library collection of 150000 books. The college has animal science department, agricultural engineering department, mechanical and Electronic Engineering Department, business department, basic department, information technology center, ideological and political theory research room, continuing education and training center, library and other teaching and teaching auxiliary departments. The college has 60 teaching laboratories and 30 training bases inside and outside the school. The sports ground covers an area of 64000 square meters, with complete sports facilities.

The college has 522 teaching staff and 312 full-time teachers, of which 92 have deputy senior professional titles and 151 have intermediate professional titles, with double qualification teachers accounting for 50%.

The college has 18 Higher Vocational Specialties and more than 20 Secondary Vocational Specialties, including animal husbandry and veterinary, animal epidemic prevention and quarantine, landscape technology, agricultural product quality inspection, tourism management, electrical automation, automobile detection and maintenance technology, computer application technology, etc.

The college offers academic education of ordinary higher vocational education, five-year consistent higher vocational education, ordinary secondary vocational education, correspondence college education and undergraduate education, as well as various long-term and short-term training courses. The college also has 256 professional skill appraisal stations for special types of work of the Ministry of agriculture and the Fifth National Vocational Skill Appraisal Institute of the Autonomous Prefecture.

In recent years, our college has been expanding the channels of running schools, and has established stable and good cooperative relations with Nanjing Jinling Institute of science and technology, Nanjing Institute of industry, Nanjing Forestry University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing Institute of tourism, etc. Through the cooperation of colleges and universities, it promotes the professional construction and development of the college.

The college constantly reforms the training mode, increases the strength of practical teaching, strengthens the construction of training bases inside and outside the school, and strengthens the cooperation with industries and enterprises, so as to promote the improvement of students' practical skills. At the same time, the college has established the concept of "smooth export and prosperous import", strengthened the work of employment recommendation, actively went deep into the society according to the situation of graduates and social employment demand, strengthened the contact with labor and personnel departments, employers and employment intermediary organizations, and opened up channels for students' employment in an all-round way.
