Hunan Institute of chemical technology is a state-owned full-time university, which is organized by Hunan Provincial People's government and supervised by Hunan Provincial Department of education. Founded in 1958, formerly known as Hunan chemical industry school. In 1998, it merged with Hunan Zijiang chemical industry school, upgraded to Hunan Chemical Industry Vocational and technical college in 2003, and merged with Hunan Chemical Machinery School (Hunan Industrial senior technical school) in 2010. The college is a model (backbone) higher vocational college in Hunan Province.
