Laiwu vocational and Technical College

Laiwu vocational and technical college is a full-time ordinary higher vocational college established with the approval of Shandong Provincial People's Government in October 2000. At present, the college is divided into two campuses, new and old, covering an area of 2406 Mu and a building area of 330000 square meters. The college has fixed assets of 400-500 million yuan, total value of experimental and practical equipment of 46.5 million yuan and a collection of 610000 books. There are 105 professional experiment and training rooms and 68 off campus practice and training bases.

The college has 646 in-service staff and 501 full-time teachers. There are 22 professors and researchers, 103 associate professors and researchers, and 138 people with master's degree or above, including 1 postdoctoral and 5 doctoral. At present, there are 9286 full-time students.

The college has six departments, including Department of mechanical and electrical engineering, Department of economic management, Department of computer science, Department of normal education, Department of information engineering and Department of art, two schools, including school of powder metallurgy and School of software, and five research institutes, including new materials and new energy, intelligent toys, biotechnology, investment and financial management, and software technology. It has set up 37 specialties including mechatronics technology, numerical control technology, metallurgy technology, applied electronic technology, electronic information engineering technology, software technology, biopharmaceutical technology, automobile detection and maintenance technology, e-commerce, accounting computerization, etc.

The college is one of the first batch of excellent colleges in Shandong Province, the advanced unit of Vocational Education in Shandong Province, and the advanced collective of vocational teachers in Shandong Province. The mechanical foundation experimental teaching center of the college was rated as the provincial demonstration center, the electromechanical integration technology and metallurgical technology were rated as the demonstration specialty of Higher Vocational Colleges in Shandong Province, the electromechanical integration technology specialty was rated as the characteristic specialty of Shandong Province in 2007, and the teaching team of pharmaceutical technology specialty was rated as the excellent teaching team of Shandong Province in 2008; Mechanical drawing, physics, medicinal botany and mechanical design foundation were selected as provincial excellent courses; biopharmaceutical technology professional training base and electrical and electronic training base were listed as the key training base construction projects supported by central finance and provincial finance respectively.

In 2003, Yang Haifeng, a student of computer department, won the title of "computer expert of Shandong Province" and "Top Ten Excellent College Students of Shandong Province". Gao Siguo, a student of Information Engineering Department, and Qi Bochuan, a student of computer department, won the nomination award of top ten excellent students of Shandong University in 2005 and 2007 respectively. In 2006, Liu Chang of the art department was selected as the "ambassador for promoting Putonghua in Shandong Province" in the Shandong competition of the national promotion of Putonghua image ambassador competition, and represented Shandong Province in Beijing to participate in the national finals. In 2005, in the provincial college student dance competition, the dance "creator" performed by art students won the first prize, and another dance program "all the way brilliant" was selected as the 2006 National College Student Campus Spring Festival Gala program, and Jinjing participated in the performance. In 2007, in the dance competition of the 10th Shandong University Students' science, technology, culture and Art Festival, our selected Dances "torrent bravely advance" and "leisurely Kangding leisurely love" won the first prize and the third prize respectively. In Shandong mechanical and electrical products competition, our students won 4 first prizes and 12 second prizes; in the national electronic design competition for college students, our students won 1 first prize and 3 second prizes.
