Guangxi Electric Power Vocational and technical college is a full-time public institution of higher learning established by the people's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and approved by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. Its predecessor is the trinity of Nanning electric power school, Guangxi electric power technical school and Guangxi electric power training center. It was founded in 1979 and was formerly under the direct management of Guangxi Electric Power Industry Bureau under the State Ministry of electric power industry. Since 2001, it has been transferred to the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and directly under the Education Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. In 2004, with the approval of the people's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, it was upgraded to a higher vocational school. It is a key cultivation unit of Guangxi characteristic university construction project and Demonstration Higher Vocational Colleges.

The headquarters of the college is located in Nanning National High tech Industrial Development Zone, the east campus is located at No.15 Anji Avenue, Nanning, and the new campus is located in Wuxiang New District, Nanning, covering an area of more than 1200 mu with a total construction area of more than 200000 square meters. At present, the college has 518 in-service staff, 360 full-time teachers, 72 full-time teachers with senior professional titles, 169 teachers with intermediate professional titles, 104 "double qualification" teachers, and 170 teachers with doctorate, master's degree and graduate degree. The college has 10 training bases (3 national training bases supported by the central government and 7 demonstration training bases for higher vocational education at the autonomous region level), including power technology, electrical and electronic and automation technology, computer application and software technology, thermal energy and power technology, mechanical and electrical technology, automobile maintenance, power supply technology, transmission and distribution line engineering, and comprehensive logistics training Experiment (training) room. It provides more than 40 types of vocational grade certificate examination, appraisal and on-the-job vocational skill training for students and social personnel. At the same time, it also provides correspondence education with senior high school starting point, and jointly organizes undergraduate continuing education with Wuhan University and Guangxi University.
