Beijing Opera Art Vocational College

Beijing Opera Art Vocational College is a full-time ordinary college approved by Beijing Municipal People's government and registered by the Ministry of education. It is the only public art vocational college in Beijing. The predecessor of the college is Beijing private Yipei opera school, which was founded in 1952. In 1953, it was taken over by Beijing municipal government and renamed Beijing opera school. Famous performing artists such as Hao Shouchen, Ma Lianliang and sun Yumin were school principals. In December 2002, the college was established and officially held full-time higher vocational education. In 2006, the Beijing Institute of art merged with the college, enriching the teaching and scientific research strength of the college.

Over the past 60 years, several generations of artists have worked hard and laid a good foundation for the development of art education in the college. The school has developed from a single Opera Major to Beijing opera, local opera, music, dance, art design, film and television performance, and from a single opera school to a comprehensive art college. It has trained more than 7000 art talents, and 20 of the graduates have won the "plum blossom Award" which is the highest award of national opera performance.

The college now has a "double quality" teaching team with strong strength, rich teaching experience and the combination of old, middle-aged and young people. At present, there are 330 on-the-job staff, 271 full-time teachers, including 47 experts with deputy senior titles or above. There are 5 famous teachers in Beijing, 17 outstanding young backbone teachers in Beijing and 1 professional leader in Beijing. At the same time, the college has long invited famous performing artists, scholars and outstanding actors as distinguished professors to teach in the University.

In the course of development, the college has gradually formed a unique educational concept. Adhere to the employment oriented, quality-oriented education as the basis, professional ability training as the core, art practice to promote teaching construction. It adheres to teaching and educating people, public training, art production and practice, and theoretical research, with distinctive school running characteristics and remarkable teaching achievements, and is known as the cradle of cultivating art talents. The college has been selected as "capital civilized unit" and "advanced unit of Vocational Education in Beijing" for many times. In January 2008, the college was rated as "excellent" by Beijing Municipal Commission of education in the "evaluation of talent training level in Higher Vocational Colleges". In December 2011, the college was rated as "Beijing Model Higher Vocational College" by Beijing Municipal Education Commission.
